Why does it always feel like Indians (dot not feather) are running a scam
Working with a recruiter who lined up an interview for me with one of the big 4.

Some of the "odd" request
1. Send a photo of my ID (typically I wouldn't do this but nothing super secret like SS# was on it so I sent it)
2. Send an email to him that reads "I _________, will accept the position if it is offered to me at a rate of $47 per hour" (maybe they've gone through the process with others and they end up backing out????)

There's others but these two stand out as extra weird.

Also, interview ended and I wanted to send a thank you note to the individuals I interviewed with (interviewed via video). I did not get there last names so I asked the recruiter guy for there last names. His response was, Sorry, I don't know there last names. I've been searching LinkedIn using individuals first name and name of company to maybe find the person but not finding the profile of the people on LinkedIn associated with the company which I think is pretty weird.

The recruiting firm itself seems a bit shady as every employee is Indian (dot, not feather) and there are only like 6 employees in the company. Why would one of the big 4 utilize a rinky dink recruiting firm?

The interview itself seemed normal and I'm not seeing how I get screwed in this so maybe legit but man, just dealing with Indians (dot not feather) gets me extra skeptical and cautious.

Anyone else feel this way? I've gotten to know a few pretty well and they are good people but the initial vibe I get from Indians (dot not feather) is that they are working some sort of scam.

Sounds like a scam.

Once they have private information from you, they have everything they need for their scam! They can drain your bank account, apply for (and receive) a tax refund in your name, and dozens of other things that make your life very difficult.

I think in this day and age, everyone is running a scam...the question is how sophisticated is it and how damaging.

3rd worlders tend to be sloppy, obvious and over-reaching with their scams...lots of tells.

I love Indian people *but* my observation about those I've gotten close to are that they ADORE lying. They just love it like you wouldn't believe.

I think it's part of their culture, and once you realize that and sort of play along without letting yourself be victimized by it, everything goes smoothly.

So, funny enough, shortly after I posted this he texts me. They liked you, can you confirm you are able to relocate to _________?

The first thing I asked him when he asked me about applying for the position was. "This job is remote, correct? I can travel to _________ as needed but am unable to relocate".

Perhaps not a scam, just incompetent.

Nah, I haven't given any info with account numbers or personal ID on it. This would be a pretty slow moving scam plus a couple of non Indians would have to be in on it because I actually interviewed with American s who asked good solid questions about skills as they relate to the position.

The position is posted with a couple other more legit recruiters as well, I just made the mistake of responding to this one thinking it was a pocketed position.

Pretty certain at this point I just got an individual who doesn't know what he was doing which is pretty tragic cause all you are doing is forwarding someone's resume to the hiring company and then if they are interested scheduling an interview with the applicant.

Along the way you just have to make sure you are dealing in facts when the applicant or client ask you questions.

Oddly enough, I have been to Bangladesh, my opinion remains, most are okay but initially come across as scammy.

Also, if things have not changed since 2016 the caste system remains strong.

And they all have the same accent, like the guy on the Indiana Jones movie.

One lady (who still had the same accent, called me and when I answered in my best (dotted) Indian accent,"Hello, you sound like you're from India",

She answered, "F*@k you"!

Lol, I'll do the same from now on!
