Help! Baby Bird has Fallen from Nest | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79940497 06/09/2021 02:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This baby bird was discovered on the neighbor carport. Quoting: President-Elect Watdhel A chicken snake was trying to get it & it & it's mom, who has now disappeared, was raising enough hell the neighbors heard it. It can hop around ok but it can't fly. I tried to feed it pieces of a worm but it wasn't interested. Anyone have any ideas on getting it to eat & what to feed it? Thanks in advance! If the chickens have come home to roost, and the eagle has landed.. then it is only proper that the baby bird has fallen from the nest. message received |

Quoting: Urban_Moving_Systems That is a myth and never ever tell that to anyone again! If you know where the nest is and can reach put it back in there (unelss chiken snakes and climb trees). bring the baby in. Feed it a puppy food. Mix it with water so it is consistency of a chewed up worm. Use a dropper to feed small amounts. do like 3 droppers of small amounts. Wait and an hour or two and come back. Gently rub the end of the dropper on the chicks beak a few times. If it is hungry it will open its mouth. I am not certain on time intervals so search it on the net. |

Put the subject in the search box above and look...happens every year. I had to kill a seven foot chicken snake I found in my henhouse a few weeks ago...I'm in n.e. Alabama. You must be southern because up north , where I'm originally from, we call them rat or corn snakes. The one in my henhouse was eating tons of eggs..yolks poured out of him after my son shot his head off. I feel terrible..I didn't know at the time he wasn't dangerous...but I still don't know how we could have relocated him .. |

Birdie wasn't in the nest this morning but I found nearby in some brush being protected by Mommy. Since my baby bird killing dog was showing interest, I relocated Birdie back to the nest on my carport & made a barrier where it couldn't just hop out but Mommy still has access. I was able to get Birdie to eat a little bit of the dog food & honey mix. I'm now water bug hunting since I read somewhere that was the highest protein bug & good for them. Since mommy knows the location of Birdie I'm hoping she can take over feeding responsibilities, but I'll continue to try and feed it. |

Chicken snakes are amazing climbers! The way they can scadatle up the side of a big tree is amazing. |

Quoting: Halfbreedgal 71390804 Yes, I'm in north Louisiana just north of I-20. There's a huge chicken snake in my barn and he's a welcome resident that pays rent by eating mice. Lol I've named him Ralph. Last spring a girl boarding her horse here had called me 3 times repeatedly. Tho I was busy I finally gave her a call back and Ralph had her scared to death as she was in the back of the barn and he was hanging in the door way! I just giggled & told her that was Ralph, she was NOT amused. |
