This is me.

It's pretty fucked up! We get the sex talk and the menstruation talk. Nobody ever gives women the menopause talk. 2 years ago it started for me... no idea what kind of hell I was in for!

I’ve lived it, it is hell in a whole different way. Oh, and the estrogen progesterone treatments just delay those hot flashes.

Ask me how I know. I went down at 40ish and was on hormones for 25 years. Doctor demanded I stop. Since I am off, they come back in full force in my late 60s.

Just take it when it comes and be done with it.

Lol! Sorry about that.
I haven’t slept well for months and I’m literally burning up.
Phoenix into ashes all the time and then reborn again to BURN!
I have it bad!
In fact, it feels akin to morphine withdrawal.

It’s like, oh btw, after periods , cramps, pregnancy, giving birth, etc...
You will have to endure something that feels like heroin withdrawal for 2-5 years maybe longer!
Are you kidding me? No dead serious. Sorry.

This is not even funny!

I think it has been a year and a half.
Three years huh?
I’m halfway there then.....I really don’t know if I can make it!
This on top of chronic pain from a back and head injury is just too much.
* huge frown face

Yeah, I went through it with no help. I knew there were supplements I could take, but I just couldn't afford them.

Lol, I would stand over the AC vent on the floor with only a dress on, just to get the cooling down going. Heh, I loved that vent.

The thing is, the grief with it doesn't just stop once the kwappy symptoms go away. After awhile the vagina starts to dry and atrophy.

I had sex for the first time in eight years last year, and it tore me to bleeding. I went to my GYN to see what could be done about it after reading about estrogen cream applied in the vagina....heh, my partner suggested I get a vibrator to "work it out." I wasn't believing him.

The GYN gave me a 'script for the estrogen cream...and once I got over the embarrassment of the question, I asked him about using a vibrator as an aide to "liven" the vagina. He wholeheartedly agreed with my partner.

So....yeah. Menopause, the lack of estrogen, keeps serving it's degradation, but at least it's only one thing, and not EVERYTHING.

I haven't really started using the cream....because cancer concerns, and my partner doesn't yet live by me. My grandmother died of ovarian cancer, so I'm a little squeamish about it.

But I would like to have a satisfying sex life. I want to make love with my partner...it's just hard not worry a bit, ya know?

sigh....these bodies we have as human beings are just not really all that, I protest

I suppose if I'd been having sex that whole eight years, then there wouldn't of been the atrophying of my Toy Box.

Heh, if you don't have a partner, then perhaps get a vibrator.

I dunno, it's kind of hard for me to talk about. I'm biting back against the difficulty of talking about a vibrator...but because I'm a grown ass woman, these are real issues us older women live with, and I shouldn't just not post because it's a little hard for me to mention.

I'm just standing up on the difficulty....hf

My doctor told me to get a vibrator.

She said that in the “older days” the women would go for their treatment at the doctors.
The treatment was the doctors using vibrators on them and getting all that energy out.
It must be released.

It apparently takes away that urge to kill.
LMAO!

I told her if I had a partner right now, I would probably kill him.

My gawd, and if you're in a relationship while going through it, oh the fuckery of it all...billlaugh

Even relationships that were rock solid and strong before menopause, they become challenged. Men don't understand what losing estrogen does to women. They don't feel all the bullshit going on in our bodies. Bad relationships?....hiding

We should do with menopausal women what was/is done with Native American pubescent boys, take us out to the deepest part of the forest and leave us, so we don't bother anyone with our raging hormones.

But really, the best thing to do with a menopausal woman is to just leave her alone. Stay out of the same "rare air" she's breathing, least you get one unholy hellcat in your face.

It doesn't take much to set off a menopausal woman....damned

Ob put me on birth control pills, they messed me up. She tried a different kind, same result. Gave up after 4 months, figure I'm just going to suck it up and let mother nature have her way with me.

The one and only thing I've tried that helps is this awesome lube called Passion. Water based, not sticky and works great!

I'm blessed to have a wonderful hubby who still loves me despite my body morphing into a potato shaped train wreck

Birth control pills?....scratching

That seems very counterintuitive, no wonder your body gave you fits. It's like trying to trick the body into something it's just not going to do.

It's very fortunate for you your husband is so understanding....hugs
