I tried grub hub once and found pubes in one of the sauces. Never order anything delivery anymore..doesn't cut all the risk but at least cuts some of the chances

If it's a straight order and you pick it up then yeah it's not tip worthy.

If the business isn't charging enough to be able to have a full-time person handling takeout orders that's their problem not mine.

If I eated a sit-down restaurant and the service is good I've tipped more than what the meal is done that twice in the past two weeks.

Let's say the service has to be good though I don't have to ask for anything they see it bring it before I even look at it again that's service worth tipping for.

If I have to ask for coffee when you can see the cup is empty your tip goes down drastically.

Good wait staff is very hard to find so it is appreciated greatly when you see it.

Delivery drivers get tipped well if they're quick bring silverware napkins all the extras that you can pick up in the store.

This is where I'm driving at, I'll tip well for waitstaff/someone, but to expect gratuity automatically on a carryout is beyond insane

kitchen time at RR is kind of precious... They make a big deal out of getting things out of the kitchen busy or slow...and the expo for their takeout takes a number of minutes, they use a lot of packaging. Then someone has to be there in the lobby to make sure everything is correct.

If you dont want to pay premium they have other customers who do.

But yet, they've gotten orders wrong, I don't hold their feet to the fire but damn, do you tip McDonald's workers?

McDonald's is cheap and streamlined, it's not the same thing.

When it comes to waiting tables in a restaurant, it's actually easier to have a table in the dining room than it is to put a to go order together.

The to go person is doing almost all the steps the server is doing, less some, but some steps are added in a to go order.

The to go person is managing your order. They still have to work with the kitchen, and they typically are responsible for boxing your stuff up or at least some of it. They have to fill the little plastic cups of sauces, etc, put in the plastic ware and napkins, try to keep it somewhat warm until you show up and they have to deal with your payment.

OTOH, if you're the server waiting on a table, you just grab the plates out of the window and put them on the table. No complicated packaging. You go back once to check on them and maybe refill drinks. When they leave, you or the busboy put the dishes into the bus tub.

But putting a to go order together and managing it from start to finish is almost more work.

Personally, I tip 10-15% on to go orders I pick up. Like I said, you will pay one way or another. If they can't make tips then they will build the cost into the menu.

The restaurant is procuring the food, dealing with inventory, storage, transportation....then you have all the prep that goes into it initially, then the cooks that work with the prepped food. It's a lot, and that's why it costs more than if you go to the market, buy it, transport it and prepare it yourself.

Don't tip at your own risk - but I wouldn't order from the same place twice.

I can understand this perspective. I do also understand the difference between Mcdumpers and other places thigh to be it's the expectancy. You sit down and dine you pay for the experience. You order food to pick up the foods good bud not above food truck fare. RR is a far cry from fine dining

Clearly, you’ve never managed a business.

Nor will you.

It gives you the illusion of freedom,
makes you trust, love, and defend your oppressor,
while making an enemy of those
who are trying to free you or open your eyes.”

-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“You have been programmed to resist the very person that is here to set you free, from the prison of your Mind... You are not free... everything you are has been manufactured by Minds that have not your best interest. You are imprisoned by beliefs and not reality. Religions are mental programs to imprison your Mind.”

Only for the last 30 years.

Must be part of that wonderful education you acquired to think that adding middle men to the equation is how you operate a successful business.
Now go back to writing threads bitching about how much your wife spent on a honey baked ham.

Retards, both of you.

Re: So they want us to tip people for doing their job.
I ordered from Texas roadhouse and used curbside service. Got charged 10% tip automatically on the bill. So, it's automatic tip for any food you order now? It's bullshit , pay these restaurant workers a living wage. Tipping is for good services. NOT just another automatic charge for ordering food for pick up? If I sit down to eat I generally tip 20% unless the service is awful..not it's required?
