The weather network radar shows an anomaly, followed by two minutes of savage lightning bombardment in the dark of night.

It absolutely pissed rain in Penticton yesterday evening, along with some good thunder and lightning. The hardest rain I've seen in a long time.

we probably got that storm an hour or two after you..

except our mountains are taller here, so those clouds ran into them and unleashed the wrath of thor!!

this storm got so intense near the end that our hair was starting to "prickle" on the back of our necks and we decided it was probably time to take shelter inside!

looking at my gardens this morning, i'm amazed how everything has suddenly had a HUGE growth spurt.. maybe lightning rain adds something special to the soil that plants love?

maybe i should do a short video on this.. seriously.. suddenly i have broccoli crowns ready to harvest and it's only mid-June!

Anyone else note that upward lighting spike at one point?

I did freeze frame it and labeled it..

Yeah rain makes everything grower rejuvenate.
I used to get a similar thing happen when I would spray everything with compost tea using the hose end sprayer.

i harvested a head of broccoli this morning -- incredible for this time of year in canada! it was super delicious too.

Fine dust.. hard to say.

On the one hand, yes, it could create electrostatic conditions conducive to lightning generation, but on the other hand it could provide a wider area of uniform charge, reducing voltage potential and attenuating lighting strikes.

If that dust encounters cold moisture in the atmosphere though, it could seed crystallization of hailstones which would indeed generate more lightning strikes.

Guess we’ll find out soon enough!
