Sure am glad I buy my beef from the pasture behind my house... ~$850 for a quarter of a cow (~180 lbs), processed and packaged. Grass fed up until about 3 to 6 months before it's slaughtered then grain fed. Pretty good beef too, a good assortments of cuts and ground. Grass-fed, no hormones, from a local farmer. Even the cheap cuts are tender. I'll never go back to a supermarket for beef. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79395644 Farmers only get about $1.30 per pound on the hoof. Pumping that up to $15 plus is an outright crime, it should hit the shelves for about $2.50 once you subtract the bones and intestines. |
