Friend was "saving" a baby bird from her cat. When she picked it up, the bird bit her with it's teeth & she realized it had fur, not feathers. She let it go, & the bat continued flying around crazy like, biting the brick on her house.

She contacted the local health department & they wanted her to catch it & she did. They came & picked it up. They contacted her the next day that it was rabid & to go to the hospital ASAP.

The Hospital 1st told her someone had prank called her. This was 15 years ago so spoofing caller ID was not something anyone could do. She spent the 1st hour convincing them she had been bitten by a bat & then waited another 7 hours for them to go where ever to get the shots.

Even after completing the session of shots (no, not the bad in the stomach ones) she had to go get titter??? levels checked for awhile.

Our local vet was kinda pissed when she told him about it because I suppose when this sort of thing happens the area vets are notified.
