Polk County Gets 1st Case Of Rabies In 2021: Deputies

The raccoon did not survive the fight with a Tibetan terrier mix after the dog's owner separated the two animals, deputies said. Animal Control sent the raccoon carcass to the state laboratory in Tampa to be tested for rabies. Two days later, results from the test confirmed that raccoon was positive for rabies, detectives said.

Rabies alert in Hall Co
Third this year

This is to advise that there was contact recently between a rabid fox, a dog and a person in the 2100 block of Morgan Drive in Buford. The fox was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab- Virology Section in Waycross. On June 16, Hall County Animal Control was advised that the fox tested positive for rabies.
