My point is mostly that everyone is witch, whether you realize it or not. Not only folks who practice some kind of religion/belief in something beyond this life/world. Ever cook anything? Use a knife? A platform of any type? Use a cup to hold liquid? These once were and in a way still are the basic tenets of magic with a K! The difference is whether someone 'declares' themselves a witch or not. So then you can overpay for candles sprinkles with herbs and get taken to the cleaners figuratively (somewhat literally if sage is involved) I never even buy the fun stuff anymore. Dollar store white candles, olive oil and rosemary can stand in for literally anything. word I've often said that I should do a show on "Dollar Store Magick" since just about all those accoutrements can be found there. Especially if you're looking to combust/burn, destroy/create stuff, it can really help. Although, one's perspective/mindset is a key part of the process, of course. However, there are other ways to concentrate energy in that manner other than spending a large amount of money. For example, I gamble some; play dfs, poker (not much anymore but I digress). I'm not swimming in gold coins like Scrooge McDuck, but I'm a winning player. But to 'come out in the green' over a long period often means a roller coaster of wins and losses. So, a dollar made there for me is much different than a dollar someone gives me. And if I want to choose the perspective that I take out and spend that money at the dollar store for 'magical practice' items, than the energy concentrated into that process is far more than a traditional dollar's energy, because of the process I've gone through to obtain it. I agree 100% It's all a mental game. Growing up, the one thing I heard over and over was that the most powerful witch would use no tools. No candles. None of the extras. She wouldnt need them. I didnt understand that until I was much older. You really don't need all the oils and the candles and whatnot. All you need really is emotion, intent and desire. That's it. Most baby witches fall into the trap of wanting to buy all the cool witch stuff right away because they think its a must have. I fell into that trap myself when I was younger. Agree. The 'tools' are tools for us, not tools that are exclusively necessary to the process, whatever it may be. There's a 'get your own dirt' joke here too that I love if you know that one. And I've faced Christians who were really, REALLY good at their game. Smart. Smooth. Cunning. Real theologians who can get inside your head and turn it inside out. Guys who would eat the glp Christians for dinner. They don't play the game of screaming at you, then inundate you with random Bible verses thinking that will somehow magically convert you like some here do. So no worries. Respecting free will is or should be our top priority as witches. I was raised to believe that violating another's free will was almost as bad as murder. That principle guides my tradition and all of my spellcraft. Now imagine a group of activist witches getting out and doing a mass coven event to say, get Trump out of office (who I voted for anyway). First, we're meant to be observers. We're to let the natural course of events play out as they should without interference. Second, if you do such an event, you just went againt the free will of 70 million plus people. Who are we to decide?
