Veneficus Vita User ID: 81003078 Australia 10/27/2021 07:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Berkano, Birch Goddess. S2-S2. https://imgur.com/Z5yx799 One for the fairer sex, Berkano represents the Birch Goddess, very much relates to femininity and motherhood, "The Great Mother". You could easily relate a Gaia type similarity, or the counterpart to The Green Man. "The Maiden goddess has reached her fullness. She is the manifestation of growth and renewal, Flora, the Goddess of Spring, the May Queen, the May Bride. The Young Oak King, as Jack-In-The-Green, as the Green Man, falls in love with her and wins her hand. The union is consummated and the May Queen becomes pregnant. Together the May Queen and the May King are symbols of the Sacred Marriage (or Heiros Gamos), the union of Earth and Sky..." In this way it is interesting that Tyr's rune Tiwaz sits next to Berkano. I have in the past related the possibility that Freyr and Tyr are connected, if not one and the same, but the details of that span across multiple cultures. Back to Berkano; it is all about continued growth, birth and rebirth, renewal, female fertility, container as well as trees and plants. As I've stated and quoted from another source above, there is very much a strong association with rebirth and fertility as well as divine feminine; you could say that the shape of the rune is akin to breasts or mountains on their side. The mountains relationship has potential links to what some scholars say is Tyr's wife Cisa/Zisa and the naming of a place in Augsburg. "Zisa’s name lends itself to another fertility attribute. Cisaeara (Latin for "altar of Cisa"), coming from Zisa’s holy place (now Augsburg) is also translated to "mountain on which siskins (zeisige, a type of finch bird) nest" or "mountain in the form of a breast (zitze)." Edit: To clarify, the existance of Cisa/Zisa has also been denied and explained away as ONLY meaning the mountain. Not sure if anyone has ever linked Berkano as I just have. Finally, I've toyed around with runes and placing them in various ways, even tried to build a sort of story of Odin's runesong in constructing Yggdrasil. One thing that I noticed was that if you lay Berkano down and overlay Tiwaz it creates a pyramid structure, as well as can produce a diamond shape (Ingwaz(Seed)) within the pair. There's other forms that can be constructed of course but this is an interesting one as it symbolizes sexual union. (see next post) Last Edited by Tý_ on 10/27/2021 08:02 AM Coz reasons, probably. I also had begun expanding this for some sort of rune experimentation. There is a version of this where I have Mannaz (mankind) beneath the pairing, a sort of "in our image"... thingy... :P This is also a decent example of a bindrune and has a flow about it due to Ehwaz(the M shape) representing pairs of entities working together. Coz reasons, probably. Elea tel'Taur GDMD |

I'm seeing so many similarities to traditional craft and wicca in these posts. Especially when it comes to the deities, tripartite Goddesses and lore. “Secure the shadow, ere the substance fades.” |
