So, didn't bring this up when talking on Berkano, specifically when on it's side and in relation to May pole, symbol of fertility, man and woman etc. However now I shall :D

When turned on it's side it also looks like a segment of the classical crown of royalty, when paired with the scepter (Tiwaz), just as the May pole with the ring for the feminine, we have a representation of the rod and the ring, which is found all through history.
Additionally a ring on the finger is itself a form of rod/ring.
