I got a little, tiny piece of peridot (14.65 carats) that arrived yesterday. I plunked it down into the palm of my hand, and that little, tiny piece of peridot lite my hand up with the tingling.

Apparently big things can come in small packages....


I love all my stones and crystals....

i actually had to look this up, never heard of Shungite before.

that is super interesting that it's made up of fullerenes.

it would be interesting to see/hold one, and test its effects on water, before i could say much beyond what i'm able to read online.

My dad did lapidary work as a hobby for years. He made jewelry that was estimated at several thousand in one case I know of. He made each of my kids a 3-D gold wire tree with their birthstones on the "limbs" hanging like fruit. My daughter cherish theirs.

Did he leave any cabochons behind?

very cool.. i've tried my hand at jewelry once or twice but i'm not very good at it, lol. got a lot of respect for a jeweller who can make all those very fine details with metals and stones, truly a gift.

I like quartz a lot too. I have a lot of clear quartz points and clusters from mines in Arkansas that I found myself (the mine owners have you pay a fee and then you take what you find). I like natural, unheated citrine points- and I have been looking for a natural rose quartz cluster- they are rare to find in cluster form. I have a cabochon of star rose quartz that I love. Maybe my favorite quartz in my collection is a large amethyst cluster with two solar quartz on it. I found it in my town at a rock and jewelry store. I also like quartz with interesting inclusions.

I would love to have an actual Emerald. I have a big hunk of green beryl- but it didn't quite reach the color to be called Emerald. Sapphires are awesome and one of my favorite stones- they come in so many colors and locales.

I live in Texas and our state stone is the topaz from Mason County Texas. I am happy to have a rough blue topaz from there and a cabochon with the star cut.

I could go on and on about "rocks".

I don't know a lot about the properties you talk about- with water, etc. I know pink stones are soothing to me in general and one time I held a big hunk of lodestone and my heart seemed like it would pound out of my chest.

It was more unsettling/scary. I didn't like the feeling.
Rhodochrosite is a feel good stone to me. They lift my mood more than most any stone I think.

I love my rocks, but could definitely get into hoarder territory with it.

When I was a teen I bought some cabochons from a really cool lady in Canada. She thought it was great that I was into rocks and sent me this large box full of rocks- some were labelled and some she gave hints about and told me to research and find out what they were. I came across them the other day and there were a couple that I didn't recognize and were a total mystery. I finally figured out that one is Tugtupite from Greenland. I put it under my black light and danced around the room.

I bought a Rhodonite from the lady in Canada. It was from the first find of it there.

haha, i know what you mean about "hoarder territory"
last time i moved, i had several rubbermaid bins full of rocks and my friends complained while trying to move them, "what have you got in here, rocks?" then they opened the lid, and yes, it was rocks.

i've tried to cull it back a bit, giving chunks of quartz away to friends and family. a lot of the smaller pieces are in the bases of my planter pots.. maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems like plants... "grow better" when they have quartz chunks beneath their roots.

I also love to collect rocks and minerals but my own collection is very small. I like to make mosaics and I am becoming increasingly interested in lapidary. The video is very nice , I saved it to watch again
