Hey OP, i was in the same position as you were, long hair long beard, met a bunch of retarded barbers they wanted me to wear a mask while they trimmed it, blowed my mind so hard I had to make a good laugh of their innability to think. In the end it turned out you will still find some thinking humans, just have to search more. Or just trim it yourselves, not that hard if you have a stable hand.

Yup. Cut a little at a time. You tube videos help. Find someone who cuts hair at home. Or even outside. They are there.

OP, I think you may be missing the barber's perspective. She is being forced to abide by obligatory rules that are instituted by the governing authorities. If they get caught not complying, they can get shut down. So they need you to help them play the game so that they can stay out of trouble. They need deniability in order to say that they were always attempting to comply with the government's guidelines. How can they do that if they allow a customer in in the door who doesn't even have a mask physically anywhere on their person? They need you to walk in with one on and keep it on until you're in the chair ready to get your hair cut. Then they have wiggle room to skirt the rules in order to cut your hair and beard. It isn't them being stupid. It's them keeping their business safe from being shut down. Help them out if you want to use their services. At least walk in the door with a mask. That tells them that you're willing to play the game and help them stay out of trouble. Could they take the time to explain this to you? Yes. They probably choose not to take the time to explain it to people who decide to get belligerent about the mask issue. They probably prefer to just let belligerent people take their business elsewhere.
