Here we go...Soul Cap for Black Swimmers Banned From Olympics
Can someone explain why? All swimmers wear caps to cover their hair to make it easier to get through the water. I don't see the difference in this one. It actually looks like it would create a drag while swimming and reduce their time.

Interesting - I'm with you in thinking that they would be a drag on the body. My guess is that they can be very large, and that could create a situation where they might accidentlly come off, or interfere with another swimmer.

No reason they can't wear the regular swim cap that everyone else does.

That cap is hilarious. If somebody showed up to the Olympics with that, everybody would have a good laugh.

Don't most black women wear wigs anyways?

I'd say 90% of black women are either wearing wigs or horse tails, like that woman runner that got popped for using marijuana.

We should probably follow the Asians lead in dealing with the blacks.

They seem to get to the heart of the problem and don't concern themselves with "racist" connotations.

That's what I've heard.

Regardless, I'm sick of various idiotic liberals politicizing matters like this as they've done to everything else too.

You shouldn't have to shave your head to compete in swimming.

Even white people might have a lot of hair and it wouldn't fit into those stream-lined caps.

This seems just like olympic overlords making rules because they have power

In the article, a swimmer said that because they use oil on their hair, the rubber/latex cap slides off. It also doesn't fit over their big hair.

My kids swam competitively and had both latex and cloth caps. The elastic nylon cloth caps were so so much easier for them to pull over the hair and more comfortable.

That "soul cap" looks like nylon/silicon cloth. I still don't see why they can't wear them.

Dude, people shave their entire body to get an advantage.

Having a large bulbous thing on your head is only goign to slow you down.

No, and I repeat NO black woman with a giant ball on her head is ever going to medal in the Olympics.

I wouldn't even trust them to be a lifeguard.

Maybe they can refrain from using oil in their hair when they are going to compete, doesn't seem like a big deal.

Then again they can't even stop smoking pot in order to pass a drug test.

It you're an Olympic swimmer it might not be the smartest idea to wear a big fuckn' Afro.

Doesn't matter if you're black or white - for that sport (and most others) short hair is best suited.
