Prof. Gilbert Raes, a textile expert who took a sample from the Shroud in 1973, wrote that there was a "reweave" area in the Shroud.

IF anyone in the group in 1988 KNEW this ahead of time, it would mean that they deliberately took their sample from the SAME area - which would virtually guarantee a much later dating of the C14 results.

Carbon-14 dating is a negative exponential function and the uncertainty is in the exponent which can lead to very large ranges of ages (error bands). I did a speech on this in High School.
