There was a lot more history to the history of the civil war in the United States than just slavery. Destroying this history and streamlining the truth down to one event of its cause is infuriating to me and ensures that future generations of Americans will not learn from that history.

The land for the parks and the statues were gifted to the city by a wealthy patron. I am sure he never dreamed anyone would want to remove the statues of the men who fought to save their state from Northern invaders. This is what happens once enough Yankees had moved South. I know those statues well living less than an hour away and I feel the loss personally as our heritage is being thrown away.

Lee even received an offer to be the general with the Union but turned it down. What SANE person would kill their own blood.

ROBERT E. LEE, like many NON-SLAVE owners (that's right, a family member of his owned slaves that he "inherited" and freed BEFORE Lincoln's Proclamation), didn't want to pay the 2.5x taxes imposed by northerners in order to subsidize THEIR failing industrial loans that southerners had nothing to do with.

This isn't even picking sides or about slavery, that's just unbiased history. How many of these schmucks realize history has complexities. Commie core dumbed them down.
