And to know that they intentionally let all that water flow into the ocean!

Will they repair it now that they can?

Of course not.

I wonder why they intentionally drained it?

So they didn't drain just Oroville,
1, gotta remember PGE owns all of this stuff.

2. Draining Oroville wouldn't have been such a huge deal if they hadn't opened all the other power dams along the feather river, draining lower bucks lake, draining 3 lakes up near the Pacific crest trail.
They as in officials kept telling everyone it was in anticipation of major rain storms, so we wouldn't have to worry about floods.
Everyone here in plumas county is pissed .....there's almost no standing pools of water in the creeks and rivers which means we are fucked once the bell hueys can no longer dip their bivy buckets in.
All by design

I just tried to post about the gold in the dam, and when I tried to post a link it says fake news!

I will try to find a different article.

Something to think about! The dam is like a giant sluice box!

Gold Rush! Oroville Spillway Emergency Creates Bonanza of Gold

The Oroville Spillway emergency in California may have one silver — or gold — lining: The debris kicked up by weeks of heavy rain and runoff is now flecked with gold, and amateur gold panners are enjoying quite the bonanza.

The "gold rush" is occurring along the Feather and Yuba rivers, which are fed by the Oroville Dam. Of course, would-be panners should take note: It's unlikely that panners will hit the jackpot and retire with steamer trunks full of gold bars; the average haul from panning the river lately is worth just $40 to $300, CBS5 reported.

The morning of April 12, 1859 started like most other mornings for the miners working the Willard Claim on the West Branch of the Feather River just across the canyon from Dogtown. The men were hard at work washing the mountain away with the force of water pressure using the hydraulic mining technique.

Then, as Chauncy Wright, one of the hired hands, bent over to pick up what he at first considered to be just another rock, he made a discovery that would end up in the record books

The Oroville Dam is right by Paradise. I know because I used to take the train there in the summer, before the dam.

Good thing they decided to flush tens of millions of gallons of water from the spillways.. into the ocean to save that poor little sea-turtle that washed up on the beach this spring, just sayin'.

This video is about the various zones within the Oroville Dam in Butte County, California, USA. The impervious clay (clayey) core and the core block are described and explained.

I found an interesting article about the gold in Oroville Dam and the Feather River.

The link is banned and there was a rather scary warning that I personally will be held responsible for copyright infringement!

Good article, too!

Why so much secrecy about the gold?

And next year it will be overflowing again. One extreme follows another. Now if they could just learn to manage the people's resources instead of always using everything to manufacture a crisis for political power.

I read in the article I cannot mention from the Oroville Mercury newspaper (banned for some reason here) that Oroville, before the dam was a huge pile of tailings from the Gold Rush. That is what they used to make the earthen dam!

People need to take responsibility for their own resources and leave areas that are so heavily controlled and not meant to have so many habitants in the first place. Once the people leave there is nothing for the government to control.

That was 2017 that it overflowed. We've been in a drought ever since.

Lake Shasta is pretty damn low now as well.
