Well I suppose there is.. but Stefan never has used sheet music... even though he has worked and earnt a living in between contracts and tours as a session musician.

7. Jazz drummers.

LOL This!! Jazz is the hardest style of music I swear to god it is! In order to be good at jazz you have to almost immerse yourself in it and honestly who the fuck has time for that?! LOL

they are just privileged tbh

So I just started watching the video but yeah man, they are. You can teach a monkey how to play an 8th note but swing is just something that you can't learn. Its either in your blood or not.

Depends on where you start

If all you practice from day one is jazz-style drumming, it’s actually very logical, and it doesn’t take long to play pretty “complex” stuff. Jazz drumming emphasizes 4 way independence, and from that things get a little cray

Rock drumming is super linear, and does not emphasize 4 way independence. Rock drummers coming to jazz must unlearn some habits, which is difficult

Not surprisingly, drummers are really good at mathematical logic, and are super sensitive to ratio based environments


When you combine the two, you get a whole new vocabulary as a drummer
