User ID: 17369045 United States 10/16/2021 09:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just made the plunge last night. Bought 300 bucks of XLM on Coinbase, and took some quizzes, and traded some of the free stuff for Algorand and Clover, Amp, Shiba, and fetch.ai, and am up $80 so far. I think I will keep my main holdings in ISO 20022 compliant items for the foreseeable future, and have smaller money to play around with the more volatile stuff like Shiba. I do see 3GD being taken out, and BTC and many others with it, so I consider the real possibility of ONLY 20022 coins being usable after the 30 days is done, and we go quantum. Quoting: Widge I do want to get into Ripple, and would like to know the best way to go about trading some of my crypto from coinbase to whomever sells XRP, if someone could offer some hints. I know how to do it, but was curious if I should be aware of traps, offers, exchange fees, or if there's anything else I should consider? tia Also, is Tether a good buy? I know they just got some black eyes, but didn't know if those were caused by bad guys, and not Tether doing wrong? Will things work out in their favor? BTW, this thread and all those of you offering input are an astronomically [in]valuable asset. Sound, honest advice that's been tested and refined by trial and fire, and offered in the most helpful and beneficial way. Thank you all!!! That sounds good how you are starting out. The way I get XRP since trading mostly stopped in the US, is, I made an Atomic Wallet on a dedicated laptop that I only use for crypto and that is free from m-a-l-w-e-a-r. I buy XLM on Coinbase and send it to the Atomic Wallet. Then within the Atomic Wallet they have a built in exchange which is very easy to use, and I swap the XLM for XRP. I keep the laptop offline when not in use and I don't do general web browsing or downloading anything with it, don't watch videos or stuff like that. Sending crypto off the exchange to your wallet is pretty daunting the first few times you do it. You should always send small amounts to test your send and then break up the rest of the amount into pieces so you aren't hitting send on a big amount of crypto and sending it off into the void forever, never to be seen again. There are lots of people here who would be glad to help you navigate that nerve wracking learning curve. Thank you! |

The rest just sit there waiting for the big day when every bank and every major corp make the switch to moving money with crypto over the iso20022 messaging systems...it will happen on or before nov 2023 and then i retire...until then i hang on and hodl like dragon and his gold |

Both holders and active traders are necessary for a market to function properly. Both Fundamental and Technical market conditions are important to examine and consider when making a decision on where and when to employ your capital. The folks who buy in and hold are providing the necessary base liquidity and the folks who are trading are providing the necessary price discovery functions. You can't have a market without both. In my experience, getting "wrecked" can happen to both holders as well as traders and is part of the learning process (hopefully you do learn something!) and the price of an education. The crypto markets are an ideal place for this education as they move quickly and have low barriers to entry and participation. Would love to hear others thoughts and experience on this too! Also, some good insights: Are We Protecting Investors or Denying Investors Opportunity? Quoting: SEC Commissioner PeirceEmbedded within the negative Wild West analogy for the crypto-frontier is a concern that unwitting and unwilling investors are being harmed by participating in the crypto markets. To those who do not view the opportunity to participate in these markets as valuable, the lack of regulatory clarity in the United States could actually be a way of protecting investors from harm: If ambiguity prevents them from participating, so much the better! From this perspective, that some projects and platforms, for example, exclude Americans because of regulatory uncertainty is actually a good thing. It is only the projects that fail to keep Americans out that face enforcement actions.[25] Widespread geoblocking of Americans should concern American regulators even if it does lighten their regulatory load. Consider, for example, recent well-publicized examples of airdrops that excluded Americans. An airdrop is essentially a free allocation of tokens to, for example, participants in a network. These tokens are a way of rewarding network participants. Why would we want US participants to be excluded from receiving the reward due them? Take a look at Twitter after one of these airdrops— the SEC is not being thanked. |

Not covid, more like strep throat. I'll be back soon to read everything but just wanted to say thanks for everyone being here and being part of an awesome group. One day we are all going to have a huge laugh about all this! There certainly will be an "I told you so moment" for all of us. I'm excited for the future and this thread will go the distance. Thank you for all your contributions, they are genuinely appreciated. I'm hoping to return in full tomorrow. Much love to the XRP crew! You guys are awesome. Thanks for the first hundred (: |

Thanks for the first hundred (: Indeed, get well soon! If you haven't already definitively excluded Covid, please take care. It started out with strep throat symptoms here in our house (son bought it home from some friends at school) but turned out a few days later to be Covid for certain (all the symptoms - loss of taste, smell, fevers, chills, respiratory issues. Tested at first negative, then positive via lateral flow immunoassay test method). The kids were over and done in three or four days, but older folks (such as myself) have a more difficult time. It took three weeks to really feel better and now over a month and a half later I'm still surprised at what fatigues me. Certainly not the worst cold I've ever had, but it isn't something I'd want to do again anytime soon. I describe it like getting three strong winter colds back to back, it was really miserable. Really enjoy the conversations in this thread and thanks again for starting it as well as everyone else for the effort commenting and the positive, constructive attitude. You should always send small amounts to test your send and then break up the rest of the amount into pieces so you aren't hitting send on a big amount of crypto and sending it off into the void forever, never to be seen again. There are lots of people here who would be glad to help you navigate that nerve wracking learning curve. Thank you! Wanted to add, if you don't have a computer, tablet or old phone that you can use as a dedicated device just for crypto, you could make a second user account on your computer, like a named guest account, run some virus scans on your computer, then download a clean copy of Brave browser and your Atomic Wallet or whatever you prefer, I use both Atomic and Exodus for different things. Then you can use that separate user account on your computer just for crypto and you won't be carrying cookies and stuff from regular web browsing, it might help, I do it that way for some things too. |
