Coinbase has locked me completely out of my account. No buys sells or swaps. Can't close the account, can't send my crypto anywhere. Can't convert it to USD.

Isn't this bullshit.

ok.. annoying question here.

would someone be willing, to once again, explain to me in a simple short way, how the trustlines work. I mean i understand its with the tool kit. but i dont have that yet. and all my xrp is on one online platform. and i dont like the thought of moving them. but i want all the air drops :D specially solo.

if anything i would only like to move them to cold storage i guess. not to some new platform i dont know...

Asking about XUMM. Once the SEC thing is out of the way a major retailer is rumored to issue a coin on XRPL. The Wallet may hold more value than one can imagine. There are very few retailers who fit into the narrative. Stellar Network and IBM also in the running.

I finally figured it out.

Set up your XUMM wallet and fund it with 30 XRP to keep the wallet open and 2 XRP for each trustline you want to set (it is refunded when you close the trustline, I'm pretty sure)

Also there's an airdrop or snapshot on Dec 1 for VGB and you have to have 1000 XRP in XUMM for that one so might as well send about 1500 XRP or so to your XUMM I guess.

So when you get your XUMM wallet set up and funded (obviously do all the security things writing down your secret keys and passwords safely etc) (and making sure you get the proper XUMM wallet from the proper source) (and it might be better if you put crypto wallets on an old phone that doesn't have service but only wi-fi and keep it in airplane mode when not in use)

Then to add trustlines you have your phone with your XUMM open

and you go on your computer and you open xumm.community and click "log in with XUMM"

then in your XUMM you click the log at the bottom of the screen and it says what do you want to do and you choose snap QR code

snap the QR code to log into xumm.community with your XUMM account

Then there's a field near the lower left corner, like halfway down the page on the left hand side

where you can type in the letters of the token you want to set a trustline for

It searches automatically and comes up at the bottom of the page

You read across the one you are wanting to set and there's a place to click "set trustline" and it opens in a new tab

Then it opens up a popup with a QR code

Shoot the QR code by clicking the logo at the bottom of your XUMM app page and choosing QR code when that slides up

Then you have to sign it you have to scroll down your XUMM page a little and slide the "Accept" slider over

Then you have to enter your password

I did this about 25 times in the last couple of days

I was super slow to figure it out

The key is to work with the xumm.commumity on your computer screen

I tried doing it between the two within my phone

That was a disaster

I dont remember where I read how to do it, it was probably from Twitter.

I downloaded the xumm wallet.

I activated my wallet (it was 20 xrp at the time and 5 xrp for the trustline).

Then I went here. [link to xumm.community (secure)]

I searched for a token, found the one I wanted and then clicked on "set trustline".

It took me to another page where a pop up asks you to confirm trustline.

Click on confirm.

Then your xumm wallet will pop up, open your wallet, then confirm within your wallet. (You may need to open your wallet right before you click "set trustline" from the xumm community token page.)

Bam! Trustline added.

You don't need to send all your XRP to XUMM?

Only enough to fund the wallet, 30 XRP, and 2 XRP for each trustline

You don't need to participate in the VGB airdrop, I only heard of it this morning

Have you sent crypto before much?

I sure avoid sending XRP around

I've owned XRP for over a year and a half

This is the first time I've "played" with any of it.

I keep mine in Atomic and Exodus on a dedicated laptop

Really don't like doing these crypto things on a phone but I have an old phone with no service, only wi-fi, that I"m using like a tablet.

Right, the SOLO snapshot is Christmas Eve, I'm going to think about that, I don't know if I want to move all my XRP, that could be nerve wracking, plus the snapshot is first and then the airdrop isn't until later and in the meantime everyone will have sold all the SOLO they bought for that separate airdrop and the price will have gone donw . . . Don't know. I did swap for 25 SOLO in XUMM just to say I did, to be part of the SOLO FOMO club :)

I'm also moving 1000 xrp to xumm for the VGB snapshot.

Yes I will move 1000+ XRP to XUMM for the VGB airdrop. I think I already set the trustline.

And I guess I'll plan on moving a good portion of it for the SGB snapshot. I guess I trust XUMM, I just don't necessarily trust the old phone I put it on. I know I can get the wallet back with the key phrase if something happens and the old phone dies, but seriously, I would rather not ever have that issue.

Re: The XRP Investor Thread
I was doing a thought experiment today - what would I say and what advice would I give if at some point during the upcoming Holidays a close friend or relative should ask about getting into Cryptos?

Of my friend group, none are involved, despite being very technically competent people. Most relatives are not involved either.

The easiest thing for a beginner is to simply buy and hold, so I wouldn't want to recommend anything aside from high quality (preferably undervalued at the moment) cryptos.

The answer, I think, is to get them set up with a simple App like the ones from Coinbase and Uphold, despite the higher fees that are charged.

I'm thinking an immediate buy into XRP as it's undervalued at the moment due to the SEC litigation and then set them up to DCA some fixed amount at regular intervals into BTC, ETH and maybe some small amount into something like Link, HBAR, FTT, or XDC.

As simple as it seems to us once you know how, there are a lot of newcomers out there who will need our help to get started.

Anyone else thinking about this or have any wisdom?
 Quoting: nemo_solus

I did help one person get onboard with crypto, but I pretty much did everything for him until recently when we transferred his holdings into his own custody and he was able to see how the wallets look and what it means to send crypto, etc.

I have been asked for beginner lessons in another group. I have thought about it and I would first tell them

I'm not going to tell you why to buy crypto, I'm not selling you anything.

I'm not going to tell you what to buy, I'll tell you what I did but you can make your own decisions.

I can tell you how to buy crypto, how to keep it safe, how to keep records and secure them, how to create wallets, what kind of arrangements you should make with your computer or other device to minimize risk, how to send tokens.

I would emphasize buying and holding long term.

I would explain the most rudimentary trading principle of holding one asset until it appreciates, then swapping it for another with more upside.

I think I could get those points across to the people that asked for them.

And I would give credit to how much I learned from Digital Dave/Crazy4Cryptos even though he's not an XRP guy. But I benefited from his youtube channel and his patreon group, for the first year I was in crypto, for some suggestions of what to buy at the beginning, and for some real nuts and bolts how-to information.

and the Bearable Bull's Udemy course, for some concepts, that really helped me make firm decisions and not second-guess myself. Thanks Bull! Always a confidence builder <3 always what I need most.

And of course GLP <3 and various diss chord groups.
 Quoting: Vision Thing

All good advice, thanks!

I also prefer to teach others to fish instead of fishing for them, but as I'm going to certainly not be able to get out of at least making some sort of comment on what I like and hold, I wanted to at least have a relatively "safe" set of suggestions and rules to follow.

IMO all you can do to start is to get them to purchase utility coins and hodl. For me I would not recommend BTC and ETH because where those prices need to go to make money are rough. Plus they have impending doom coming down on them with Tether and the SEC free pass.

My list would be: XRP, XLM, XDC, HBAR, QNT, VXV, ALBT, and ALGO.

I've been on the LINK train this whole time but have recently come across some issues they could have down the road. I am not familiar with FTT.

Overall I think you have the right idea going forward.
 Quoting: Luminous Epinoia

Thanks for the input - was thinking the same about BTC and ETH as they aren't anything I hold (although do trade sometimes when the setup is good). However, the reason I might suggest to DCA in is that they are at least generally known and are perceived as "less risky" due to the familiarity.

Will have to go back and check out Alliance block again, had heard of them by hadn't given them a look yet.

FTT is the native token for the FTX exchange, I kind of see it as having the same type of utility and growth as the BNB (Binance Coin). FTX as a business has been looking (in my opinion as a non-expert) like they are doing all the right things and I would expect good growth in the future.

So, according to this, SFLR (Flare Network on XRPL, right?) was renamed to EXFI.

If you want free EXFI, you'll need to hold on to SGB (or WSGB).

The snapshot was delayed for SGB (don't take MY advice. LOOK at the charts for SGB.. You can see the plummeting dip after the delay was announced.)

The new date is 12/12/21 at 1pm EST.

Is SGB going to ramp up again for the snapshot?
1dunno1

If you want 100 free EXFI, you'll need to be holding 23,527.50 SGB on 12/12/21 at 1pm EST.

What does EXFI do? Check out the link, it's a super short read. It sounds like it's the oil to making the Songbird/Flare network roll.

All those FLRs people are wanting and waiting on? They're holding up the distribution until after this SGB/EXFI thing pans out as their beta test.

Wondering out loud if I should buy into SGB now since it's at bargain price (XDC->XRP->SGB) and then sell at 1:15pm EST 12/12/21 back into XRP for the 12/24/21 snapshot, then buy back all my XDC with the XRP again?
God knows XDC isn't doing anything and if I can throw my XDC bag around and grab some some extra coins over the next 3 weeks and back again without loss, why not?

Coinbase has locked me completely out of my account. No buys sells or swaps. Can't close the account, can't send my crypto anywhere. Can't convert it to USD.

Isn't this bullshit.

Re: The XRP Investor Thread
ok.. annoying question here.

would someone be willing, to once again, explain to me in a simple short way, how the trustlines work. I mean i understand its with the tool kit. but i dont have that yet. and all my xrp is on one online platform. and i dont like the thought of moving them. but i want all the air drops :D specially solo.

if anything i would only like to move them to cold storage i guess. not to some new platform i dont know...
 Quoting: T-Man

You dont need the tool kit. Just get Xumm.

I don't even know how the tool kit works.
 Quoting: Abe Froman

He's right. I've posted multiple tweets that have step by step instructions in regards to XUMM. It's very intuitive and doesn't take long.

I ran a test today sending over 25 XRP from my ledger to XUMM. Then I converted that into SOLO. Super easy. Because of that my plan is to move all of my XRP over to XUMM the morning of Christmas Eve, convert it all to SOLO then ten minutes after the snapshot covert it all back to XRP and send all that back to my ledger.

As a security test I'm leaving 5 solo open on my XUMM to see if it gets messed with at all. If for some reason it would I would connect a trustline to my ledger but I don't see that happening.

Asking about XUMM. Once the SEC thing is out of the way a major retailer is rumored to issue a coin on XRPL. The Wallet may hold more value than one can imagine. There are very few retailers who fit into the narrative. Stellar Network and IBM also in the running.

I've hear rumors of that as well. It would be a massive move in the right direction if/when it happens.

So, according to this, SFLR (Flare Network on XRPL, right?) was renamed to EXFI.

I just read about this and was considering the same thing you are. Lot going on right now so I want to keep things clear. Where would you exchange XRP for SGB and where would you host the snapshot?

I want to do it for the SOLO airdrop, which my current platform doesnt support :-S
 Quoting: T-Man

Right, the SOLO snapshot is Christmas Eve, I'm going to think about that, I don't know if I want to move all my XRP, that could be nerve wracking, plus the snapshot is first and then the airdrop isn't until later and in the meantime everyone will have sold all the SOLO they bought for that separate airdrop and the price will have gone donw . . . Don't know. I did swap for 25 SOLO in XUMM just to say I did, to be part of the SOLO FOMO club :)
 Quoting: Vision Thing

You guys shouldn't be afraid of the xumm wallet. It is the premier and preferred wallet for xrp. I hold my xrp in Nexo for the interest. They are also insured. I've been thinking of holding my xrp in xumm permanently. But I do get 14 free xrp a month through nexo.

I'm also moving 1000 xrp to xumm for the VGB snapshot.
 Quoting: Abe Froman

After digging around I fully agree that the security is strong with XUMM.

My question is, do you know of what would be the easiest way to buy SOLO? Instead of buying XRP I was thinking I could save some fees and buy SOLO and then exchange through XUMM. I went through the Dex bit it wasn't that intuitive.

Bitrue.

After ditching Coinbase a week ago, I only have Ledger, Bitrue, and Xumm.

I play with Lobstr, trying to learn it as I can. Xumm’s been taking my time lately. Also have Atomic for swaps I can’t get on Bitrue or Xumm.

The way I've been obtaining my solo is transfering my xrp from nexo to xumm. I trade my xrp for solo.

I haven't used my bank card in over 3 months for any crypto I have obtained.
