business in usa are not able to deduct inventory until it is sold - inventory before being sold is an asset on the books - hence business desire for as low operating inventory as possible or a “just in time” delivery system

My material suppliers are saying there's a shortage of stainless steel for fabrication purposes.

I'm talking 300 series stainless, of which my company has used quite a bit. Very difficult to come by now, if not impossible.

Stainless is used in many applications, and likely there's some within your field of view right now.

The government tore up the Constitution denying you the right to earn a living, denying you your civil liberties, and pursuit of happiness...

What do you expect to happen when people are denied the right to go to work?

Who creates the supply?

If no work happens, no goods are brought to market.

Does it really take a genius to point this out??!!

Re: Now what! A stainless steel shortage?
The vast majority of stainless is made in China, and I can tell you it wasn't very good when times were normal.

Swiss stainless is the best. After that, American, Mexican, and at the bottom of the list is Chinese.
 Quoting: Cheyenne

Is that China's best or worst product? In Canada, it is the contractors who order substandard stainless that is the problem rather than China can't produce the same quality the EU produces. (where do they get the raw materials from)

I'm going to guess that shortage would disappear if hemp was available in 'carbon-fibre form' that can be made to fill any mould that can be made, as well as 3D printers that spin the thread into patterns last seen on the pirate ships of old.

Same thread could reline city water/sewer mains, so replacement is avoided. They could also be used on concrete freeway supports, so they become 'quake-proof'.
And the list goes on . . .

The framework of industry in this day and age is a process called "just in time" delivery...There are no warehouses stocked full of product or raw materials...Inventory is taxed!

So, to avoid taxes nobody keeps a large supply to offset a disruption in the supply chain...Therefore, everything grinds to a halt and magnifies the fucking stupidity of it all...

The cost of these supplies is going through the roof. I'm looking to buy a 4 ton air condition system with gas furnace. Four years ago the least expensive one was around $7,000. Today it's around $9,000-$11,000.

Yikes!

I am also seriously wondering if there are asphalt and concrete shortages in America too. The Texas DoT can no longer perform even decent road repairs and road construction. Everything that has happened in this area of life since the relatively mild winter storms we Texans got in mid-February 2021 has been progressively worse. Even the asphalt and concrete being used is just plain getting worse as well.

Mr. Trump is a descendant of King Christian I of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Trump can also trace his ancestry to the Scottish royalty. Christian I of Denmark was the father of Queen Margaret of Scotland, the spouse of King James IV of Scotland. Their son, King James IV of Scotland is also Mr. Trump’s forefather.

YES!!! So many gosh darn things are breaking down these days it is both borderline horrifying and quite concerning. This is quite possibly a major reason why there is such a massive run on quite alot of goods these days, especially electronics. You can no longer take for granted your brand new extremely expensive electronics will last beyond a month.
