I seem to have a tender spot on the left side of my head right above the temple.

I was washing my hair in the shower and as I am massaging in I noticed that my head is tender.

it's not sore and it doesn't hurt but if I rub my fingers in a circular patter I noticed it feels different from the left side, if I push down it doesn't hurt but it feels like something is off with the bone or something

Could be a nerve?

It is cerviogenical tension. Not sure on spelling. Generally accompanied by a head ache. A tense machine on the shoulder, neck or sometimes even tricep will get rid of it. Nothing to worry about. I get it plus a 2-3 day migraine when I have sedentary.

If it feels like sore hair follicles in a localized region (anywhere on the body) it is an early sign of upper respiratory infection.
If you feel that is possible you should begin drinking elderberry syrup and taking zinc gluconate.

I haven't had a headache in week over a decade.

it seems like it's the beginning of a problem, maybe some kind of inflammation?

worse case it could be a tumor

Prolly sinuses.

Between monsoonal-like rains and haze from wildfires, atmosphere is fucked.

I know exactly what you mean...I had the same thing going on for months, left side of my head around my temple area...just gently brushing a finger over that spot was really tender yet pressing hard not so much. I did loads of searches to see what it might have been but didn't really arrive at a satisfactory answer. Its since disappeared.

For things like that...I usually give it 2-3 weeks. If it's still there after 3 weeks I'll start to get a little concerned.

Oh yeah. That’s a nerve. Do an image search for facial nerves.

Now if half of your face goes numb, and you’ve no previous experience like that, get to a Dr.

Had same thing over a year ago, actually hurt to touch the hair, them some swelling, then a lot of swelling. Turned out to be temporal arthritis or giant cell arthritis. Your immune system starts attacking the blood vessels in your scalp. Only one traditional treatment with the fucked up modern medicine and that's steroids, prednisone and that's bad news. Took me a year and a deep dive into natural god given medicines to figure out how to beat it. Danger is blindness usually only one eye if it does not resolve on its own or you fail to get control of it quickly. Also aneurisms and blood clots at the extreme end. Note I had the sensitivity to a spot of hair follicles a year previous but went away after a week or two or so I thought. Be aware!
