INVITATION to READ the WHOLE BIBLE in 40 DAYS & 40 NIGHTS: FINAL UPDATE, p. 7

Some people like to listen to the Bible. Know some who have long commutes who listen to it on their way to and from work.

Read it slowly then and look up things you don’t understand. Or you want a better understanding of. Ask for God’s help.

If people followed the basics we would be better off. Jesus sad for us to love God, our neighbor and to even love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. It’s all about love. Don’t hurt anyone including ourselves. Let God have vengeance.

Some people benefit from doing this.

The bad guys have read it and studied it to use it against us. Satan knows what is written and tried to use it against Jesus to get Jesus to do an act of worship to him and turn against God.

That's right. Make the effort to pick up God's Word and read it, and God himself will read it to you through his Spirit, and open your understanding of it. The more you want to understand, the more he'll help you understand.

The read-through starting tomorrow is a chance to see the "big picture of scripture" within a short time frame. Some people will make notes of the places they want to study deeper later, and that's a great idea.

The read-through is to get the Book into you and you into the Book.

Yes, everyone learns differently. I think people who are more musically inclined tend to want to hear God's Word rather than read it. They respond to tones. David was like that, which is one of the reasons why he wrote the psalms.

Me, I like reading God's Word because I can hear God reading it to me -- perfect intonation, perfect cadence.

Yes, that's Satan's MO -- to take bits and pieces of scripture and twist them to his purposes. They're God's words, yes, but they're taken out of context and misapplied, so they're not God's Word.

We need to know God's Word in context, like Jesus did. And the only way to do that is to read the Bible all the way through and see how it all fits together, while asking God for guidance.

Yes, everything you say is true. Concordances are our friends.

And it's good advice to keep a notebook or two to jot down notes and questions for further reference.

But some doing the read-through will want just to read the words and let them flow through them, and that's good, too. Whatever works for you is what you should do.

There's no "perfect" translation of the
manuscripts used for the Bibl.

All have some issues.

Here's one - Jude 1:5

NASB says "the Lord" - meaning Jesus.
No other scripture places Jesus at the Exodus.

66 books in 40 days is not an easy
thing to do for most folks who
have daily "obligations" like
work - cooking meals etc...

No, it's not easy; nothing worth doing is easy.

Maybe for those 40 days and 40 nights, time can be taken for the readings before work, or during commuting, or at lunch break, or after work, or in the evening. If someone really wants to do something because they know it's the right thing to do, they'll find a way to do it, they'll find the time.

But not everyone is called to do this now. For those who have other priorities, the read-through might not be for them.

Study without reflection is a waste of time. Reflection without study is dangerous.

Trust in the Lord

If you are truly a Servant of the Lord then this should be crystal clear to you in these Final Days:

1 John 2:15
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth


Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We no longer have the leisure to study God's Word over the course of years or even months. We need to gulp it down now and pray that it sticks our ribs.

That's what the read-through is for.

You can grumble that it's not done the way you like it, or you can take what you're given, eat it, and be grateful.

Something is always better than nothing.

It's up to you.

Take Deut 6:4 where God says he is one. That is what is written...

What is NOT written however....like wouldnt that be a perfect opportunity for God to write I am one but three? But yet, he is silent on it.
