INVITATION to READ the WHOLE BIBLE in 40 DAYS & 40 NIGHTS: FINAL UPDATE, p. 7
For anyone who’s interested, a group of us is doing a Bible read-through starting with Genesis on Friday, July 23rd, and ending at Revelation on Tuesday, August 31st, 2021.

That’s 40 days and 40 nights of God’s Word, reading the Bible cover to cover.

To get through the whole Bible in 40 days and 40 nights, we’ve divided it into 40 readings of roughly 20 pages each. That should take US around 2 hours a day. This is not a Bible study, so a deep reading is not the aim here. We’ll be reading with our lamps topped up and our loins girded, so to speak. Again, this is a read-through, not a study.

It would be great if you could join us and we could all read the same sections of the Bible together at more or less the same time (at least on the same day), like a cloud of witnesses.

If you think God’s calling you to do this, I suggest you do it. We’ve got some dark days ahead. Christians prep by reading God’s Word and remaining in prayer with God and Jesus at all times. Doing a read-through now will help you strengthen your spiritual muscles. We need to be strong for what’s coming. We need to be strong for ourselves and for each other.

For the reading schedule, go here:

The Bible will be the King James Version.

That's great!

You'll be blessed!

Whenever you read God's Word, you'll find something new that you hadn't seen before, something that applies specifically to you and your life.

God talks to his children in prayer, but he also talks to them through his Word.

You'll have 40 days and 40 nights of God talking to you as you read the Bible with other believers -- what could be better than that!

Don't be shy!

Reading the Bible from one end to the other gives you the "Big Picture" of scripture.

Doing it in the condensed time frame of 40 days and 40 nights helps ensure you'll stay motivated and make it all the way to the end.

Plus, you'll be doing it with a group of other believers. We all need to get strong and stay strong for what's coming, and feeding on God's Word for a few hours every day is one of the best ways to do it.

Please have someone well versed in Biblical genealogies to read to genealogical lists.

It's very distracting in public readings when you get a neophyte reader to attempt the genealogical tables.

It should be well practiced and flow.

Happy 53rd and many more to come!

You can read any time of the day or night, an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening (that's just an average; it might not take you that long), every day from July 23 to August 31.

It's not a deep reading, just a read-through to see what's what and what's where in scripture. You can make notes to go back to certain places to do a deeper reading at another time.

You're very welcome. hf

Even if you've already read the Good Book from cover to cover already, reading it again (especially in a condensed time frame like 40 days and nights) will open up God's Word even further.

And if you haven't read it cover to cover yet, you're in for a real treat! I do a read-through a few times every year, and each time it's like reading a whole new book. I don't know how God does it, but he keeps it fresh and exciting every time!

Yes, you can read the Bible in a shorter time frame, but to keep the momentum going, it's better to pace yourself. Two hours a day (on average) works well. If you try to do too much every day, you run the risk of burning out and not making it to the end.

As for which version of the King James, that's your choice. You'd be reading it on your own. This isn't a public reading. We're just all reading the same part of the Bible at more or less the same time every day. You're welcome to join, even if you don't, as you say, believe in God.

That's wonderful!

So happy you'll be joining in!

And you're right, it's not speed reading. It's just reading briskly but at a comfortable pace and without getting bogged down, like going for a nice long brisk and refreshing walk every day.

Some days the "walk" will be little longer or shorter than others, depending on where we are in the Bible.

If you're a fast reader, you probably won't need two hours to get through the daily selection.

Quick answer -- no, though to be honest, I thought about doing a 10-question quiz at the end of each daily reading... but my idea got a red light from God, so I let it go.

Yes, the begats we definitely don't need to linger over during the read-through. But it is still intriguing to trace Jesus' lineage and all the different spellings for the same people in his family tree.
