Anonymous Coward User ID: 78831265 Canada 07/21/2021 08:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's great! You'll be blessed! Whenever you read God's Word, you'll find something new that you hadn't seen before, something that applies specifically to you and your life. God talks to his children in prayer, but he also talks to them through his Word. You'll have 40 days and 40 nights of God talking to you as you read the Bible with other believers -- what could be better than that! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79561808 Canada 07/21/2021 09:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't be shy! Reading the Bible from one end to the other gives you the "Big Picture" of scripture. Doing it in the condensed time frame of 40 days and 40 nights helps ensure you'll stay motivated and make it all the way to the end. Plus, you'll be doing it with a group of other believers. We all need to get strong and stay strong for what's coming, and feeding on God's Word for a few hours every day is one of the best ways to do it. |

It's very distracting in public readings when you get a neophyte reader to attempt the genealogical tables. It should be well practiced and flow. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7674859 It's very distracting in public readings when you get a neophyte reader to attempt the genealogical tables. It should be well practiced and flow. Just to clarify, this is a private reading, not a public one. We'll all be reading on our own, but we'll be reading the same text more or less at the same time (within the same 24-hour time period). It only takes one. |

You can read any time of the day or night, an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening (that's just an average; it might not take you that long), every day from July 23 to August 31. It's not a deep reading, just a read-through to see what's what and what's where in scripture. You can make notes to go back to certain places to do a deeper reading at another time. Making time for God and his Word always brings blessings -- even more than birthdays! It only takes one. |

Even if you've already read the Good Book from cover to cover already, reading it again (especially in a condensed time frame like 40 days and nights) will open up God's Word even further. And if you haven't read it cover to cover yet, you're in for a real treat! I do a read-through a few times every year, and each time it's like reading a whole new book. I don't know how God does it, but he keeps it fresh and exciting every time! It only takes one. |

I have 4 different king James version and each is different? We need more big wizard in the sky, propaganda. All praise be to God, I mean Allah,, err Gandolph the grey,, oh fuck it don't matter, they are all made up stpries. |

Yes, you can read the Bible in a shorter time frame, but to keep the momentum going, it's better to pace yourself. Two hours a day (on average) works well. If you try to do too much every day, you run the risk of burning out and not making it to the end. As for which version of the King James, that's your choice. You'd be reading it on your own. This isn't a public reading. We're just all reading the same part of the Bible at more or less the same time every day. You're welcome to join, even if you don't, as you say, believe in God. It only takes one. |

It's just reading briskly but at a comfortable pace and without getting bogged down, like going for a nice long brisk and refreshing walk every day. Some days the "walk" will be little longer or shorter than others, depending on where we are in the Bible. If you're a fast reader, you probably won't need two hours to get through the daily selection. It only takes one. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78831265 The Lord talking with you daily through the Holy Spirit. For the rest of eternity. You're right, of course. I should have stipulated "What could be better than that while you're still on Earth"? Even so, getting up close and personal with God through his Word is still a pretty special place to be. It's not yet Heaven, but the next best thing! It only takes one. |

Yes, the begats we definitely don't need to linger over during the read-through. But it is still intriguing to trace Jesus' lineage and all the different spellings for the same people in his family tree. It only takes one. |
