UK food chain about to break. Mainstream media. | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72289832 United Kingdom 07/21/2021 11:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We have more pan max capable ports per capita than anywhere else in the world, we pretty much invented global trade. A US company just last week spent billions buying a grocery store chain here, do you think they would do that if they had nothing to sell? Mainstream media bullshit. Maybe they are running these stories as they plan on screwing the US. |

We love spam and canned Dak ham, have many cans of the stuff on hand. Have 75 lbs of rice, 30 lbs quinoa, cornmeal, flour, lots and lots of spices, cases of water, gatorade powder drink mix, powdered milk. And that's just for starters. Years worth of tp, paper towels, paper plates. Just got 50 lb case of boneless skinless turkey thighs for the freezer. Stocking up for the winter which is just right around the corner. Covid was a shot across the bow for those still asleep. If that didn't wake people up nothing will. Anyone not putting back some supplies during this little break in the action is loony tunes. |

Today. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78911905 Have you seen the black friday rioting to get a cheap tv? Scale that up 1000X for a food shortage. [link to uk.news.yahoo.com (secure)] On the plus side, the riots won't last that long, gonna be difficult to riot while starving. Hopefully, they stupidly stay and burn down the cities along with the petrol stations and make leaving harder. The only thing I fear in this scenario is that they wise up and leave the big cities quickly looking for food, unlikely though. I expect by the time they realize that food isn't grown in Tescos it will be too late. |

Quoting: Agent 99 You'd have to supplement that with protein and veggies of course. 50lbs of rice lasts me about 3 months. I'm asian, and it is a staple. You do know that 50 lbs of rice translates into 200 lbs of cooked rice?! |

I have only the finest foods money can buy and are much wider selection stocked too compared to your severely limited menu of commoner 'vittles' Jethro or whatever your commoner name is. |

Until now we've managed to keep the food supply chain running but there's a sense of we're starting to fail on that front," he told BBC Radio 4's Today program. Asked if production lines are stalling, he said: "They are. It's happening already. We're starting to see that at retail level and in restaurants - everyone is struggling to get things out really." They only want double vacc to work, not enough of them The only food item I've noticed a continued or frequent outage in is canned petfood. we have been to 5 different stores in the last week in a half looking for Mustard Seed, none, manager at one place said his order is a month late, used the two we had making Pickles, also noticed that there are not a lot of spices period unless you want Chili Powder, plenty of that. How funny, I was looking at spice at Safeway today and they had nice jars of whole mustard seeds. lol Get me some, you in the city? would rather have it & not need it then need it & not have it |

I actually found some online this morning, good price so i stocked up, i live rural and it's canning time so that might have something to do with some items not in stock? we have been getting anywhere between 20 and 50 cucumbers every two days for weeks, sold some to the local produce stand, gave a lot away, we have put up 3 gallons of Pickles so far and might do another, also put up sweet pickles and relish, the produce stand is also buying our Squash and cabbage for re-sale, will probably sell them a hundred pounds of Potatoes when i get around to digging some or do what we did last year and trade Potatoes for Peaches and Apples, the Critters have put a hurting on our Apple trees again this year. would rather have it & not need it then need it & not have it |
