Seems a bit heavy handed for s house that old.

I sneak wood out with a sawzall and oscillating tool with bimetal blade.

Those tools certainly look effective.

Good post. Appreciate the info.

Thank you, The house caught on fire 5 years ago. Roof replacement was done per code. Forgot about first floor ceiling joists. 2x6x19. The 2nd story is. A trampoline. I have to remove 3/4 drywall, 3/4 “ sheet rock and then 1” rough cut hickory to get access. Why I got it for a steal. Correct joists are 2x18x19, Cheers

I have an old house, also.

Completely made of cedar with some of the hardest stucco imaginable on the outside.

I bought a trailer load of wood from a similar structure from the same era that got torn down.
The trailer load had the following lumber which I have picked through for some of the repairs:
One-full-inch cedar boards, some 2x4's of various sizes(some are full 2x4 with no foolin') some beams of various sizes and tongue and groove flooring without a single knot or bent grain.

My house is tiny and the wood far softer, but I understand a bit. Maybe slightly more than the proud owner of a strand-board OSB McMansion.

My hat's off to you.
