Re: BIBLE READ-THROUGH: Day 1 (GENESIS 1-28:22): Reflection and Discussion
Numerous times in scripture He received the worship of men and angels.
You have yet to grasp what worship means ...
One worships GOD.
"If you believe He is not God, then your Jesus cannot save you."
Show me the verse that says that.
You can't.
It doesn't exist.
 Quoting: Servant-of-the-LORD

It requires basic deductive reasoning skills.
And the ability to read.

At Thomas' conversation, these words were uttered:

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

That was easy, wasn't it?

Re: BIBLE READ-THROUGH: Day 1 (GENESIS 1-28:22): Reflection and Discussion
It is reinforced by Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace

Another 'translation' error uh???

Which 'translation' do you use .. the New World 'translation'? The Witnesses use that heretical doctored blasphemous document.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22255432

The KEY word above is "called"
It does NOT say...."he will BE" or "he IS".

Why are you not calling Him this then??

"1. MOVING IS SURVIVAL" ????

Where are you getting this "assessment" from?

NONE of them made the "moves" by their own "choice".

God TOLD them.

They CHOSE to listen and obey.
 Quoting: Servant-of-the-LORD

Not TOLD - WARNED. Warned that the environment they were living in would destroy them if they stayed. TOLD sounds as if God makes arbitrary commandments just to show his power

How is it you folks mention John 20:28 but ignore what John states in verse 31..."Son of God".

The passage is about how Thomas refused to believe that the other Apostles had seen the "resurrected" Jesus.
And notice what John states in verse 31.

John 20

28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"

29 Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;

31 but these are written that you may believe

that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,

and that believing you may have life in His name.

Thomas says Jesus is "my God". NOT "Jesus IS God".
Jesus NEVER says "I am God".
NONE of the Apostles say "Jesus is God".

Did Jesus LIE when He said....

John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

SON OF God

"Son of God" is used 46 times in the New Testament.

"God the Son"??? ZERO times.

"God Jesus"??? ZERO times.

Matthew 16

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou
art Peter, and upon this rock I will build
my church; and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of
the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever
thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound
in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 Then charged he his disciples that
they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Re: BIBLE READ-THROUGH: Day 1 (GENESIS 1-28:22): Reflection and Discussion
It's funny how you "Jesus is God" folks are always claiming to have the Holy Spirit - yet you can't even understand basic understanding of scripture and the rammifications of your faulty "Jesus is God" doctrine?

"God" has to learn???

John 5:19 & John 8:28

5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

"God" doesn't know when He will return?

Matthew 24:36

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

"God" gives thanks to Himself?

Luke 10:21 & John 11:41-42

Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

"God" sits at God's right hand?

Matthew 26:64, Mark 14:61-62

64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mark 14

61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

"God" is 'GIVEN' authority?

Matthew 28:18

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

"God" tells God what to say????

John 12:49-50

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

"God" prays to Himself?

You see here that he does not believe Jesus is God, but cannot explain why Jesus received worship.

His Jesus is not the real One.

LOL. Your theology is flawed.

One does not worship honorable men.

One worships God and God alone.

That's one of the big 10 Commandments.

God was incarnated as a man.

Thus Son of Man and Son of God Titles.

Key word is GOD was incarnated.

Jesus was with God from the beginning, thus the Trinitarian nature of God is revealed.

"1. MOVING IS SURVIVAL" ????

Where are you getting this "assessment" from?

NONE of them made the "moves" by their own "choice".

God TOLD them.

They CHOSE to listen and obey.
 Quoting: Servant-of-the-LORD

As I mentioned in the Reflection above, "In every case, God prods his people to move, even if they don’t want to go."

Maybe if would be better for you to read the whole Reflection before jumping into the discussion.

The "header" of "Moving is Survival" is misleading.

Maybe YOU need to rethink how to "summarize" a section.

Are you here to create rifts among Saints because they do not agree with your interpretations of His Word?

The OP started this awesome 40-Day project. Bless the OP!

How are you being a Servant of the Lord attacking the OP, who is in fact being a diligent servant of the Lord? What are you contributing to OP's work?

Believe me, that nut is on EVERY thread about the Bible touting his Jesus is not God trash.

It is a demonic entity seeking to steer folks away from salvation.

Something not right about someone who seeks to cut down Jesus every chance he gets ...

Re: BIBLE READ-THROUGH: Day 1 (GENESIS 1-28:22): Reflection and Discussion
The purpose of this thread is to discuss our assigned reading for the day.

Today's reading is Exodus 5-Exodus 31:18.

Let's thank our OP for her generosity and grace in not only initiating this 40 day and night Bible reading, but also for this thread that is meant to bless us, encourage us, and edify us.

May we bless and encourage the OP, and each other as well.
