I have got Google Pixel 4a carrier unlocked from Googles themselves and I was able to root successfully with a program called Magisk. I wanted it for audio mods. Anyone else have luck? If so what phones do you guys have?

its a lot of work, dont underestimate it.
And even then, if it works, you need to use all open source stuff if you want to degooglize completely.

Seemed like a good idea at the time, now im back to android.

I came to the conclusion, no phone, or some ultra mini laptop with a data sim, running linux was my best option.

I even tried the linux phone builds, but nothing worked.

Im still looking

I went from a modern Android back to an LG V20. It is the newest phone that has a removeable battery. The phone was $50 on eBay and I spent another $15 on a new battery (that was actually higher mAh than the original) so I can swap the two if needed.

The battery life is actually pretty killer.

Also, some features that I forgot I missed:

- IR Blaster
- MicroSD Card
- 3.5mm Headphone Jack.
- FM Radio

I debloated Google and am running a lean/mean version of LineageOS 15

I did it to play an external hard drive. And now I can't undo. Didn't realize it would take over the machine. I can't remove it.
