They say across the board that the wheat crop in the inland NW is absolutely horrible right now. They also told me that corn is bad as well. Quoting: Bloody Peasant! Combine this with flooding in Asia, water issues in California, and we are in for a rough ride for global food production. Not a good sign No organic spring wheat from me this year, harvested with a baler. ND been in a bad drought this year spring wheat they say will be less than half a normal crop. Looks like it's not localized then. Not good And the bad spring wheat crop is also Montana and into canada |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80443140 Unless the 'heat dome' killed the crop off? Don't know. All I know is I met with a few farmers today. One has 8000 acres and they are currently harvesting. They said their crop yield is very low. Blamed it on the heat and low rain. I'm not a farmer so I just listened and asked questions. Farmers are th biggest welfare queens out there. They always bitch, but get 40 percent of their yearly income from the government There someone said it outloud. 100% True. Coming from a farmer. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 80158173 United States 07/27/2021 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, I live in the wheat lands in eastern Washington, and we have had no moisture in over two months. Combine that with most days temps in the high 90s or up to 113 at my place, and the extent of this disaster is clear. Most farms wont harvest enough wheat to pay for the seed and fuel costs. The good news is that the four prior years produced hefty yields and many farmers have significant wheat in storage. So there is some buffer if it comes to that. Quoting: Horticulture I probably drove past you today. I was in Lewiston ID. Drove up to spokane area. It's those farmers I'm talking about. Weird thing is that they were saying beef would get cheaper. For some reason the price of beef is inversely proportional to wheat price. I can't wrap my head around that concept but okay. I was in Lewiston today too...drove in from Grangeville |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78068547 07/27/2021 11:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The declines in durum and spring wheat were so great they would reduce overall U.S. wheat production, dominated by winter wheat, by 8% from the previous forecast. Durum wheat, used in pasta, would total 37 million bushels this year, compared with 69 million bushels last year. Spring wheat, used in bread, cakes, and rolls, was estimated at 345 million bushels, down from 586 million bushels in 2020. Canada now leads the world in durum wheat exports, with about half of all durum wheat available for export grown in Canada. Mexico and the EU contribute 17 and 16%, respectively. The remaining 17% is exported from other countries including the United States, Australia, Mexico, and Kazakhstan.Oct 29, 2020 |

Correct OP -> the guy a I buy my hay from had the contract with North40 here in North Spokane. He defaulted on his contract because he could only supply 20% of the total number of tons he was supposed to supply... Now they are going to be folding as a farm... Insurance will help, but not solve the issue. Famine is coming to big cities -> which means food wars, and crime in the outside areas as people scrounge to feed themselves and their kids. Shit's gonna be bad. |

We have been blessed with a very mild Spring and summer so far with an abundance of rain. All of the crops around our area are full and near ready for harvest. The farmers here have also spread out in the types of crops grown this year instead of just corn corn corn. All is not doom and gloom because one area had problems. Other areas will take up the slack. Oh, an remember that Texas is a freaking BIG state and Most if it is doing good agriculturally. So Doom down a bit Chillins. None of those conditions existed until they started spraying that shit everywhere. Regular wheat crops are sprayed right before harvest to help the drying process. If you are not sourcing local, organic wheat/grain you are consuming so much glyphosate, that shit don't wash off. I did go the Beyond cat food, but the ferals get the Meow-Kit'n Cabu, and the pre cat chow. They like it and it beats no food at all. Costco makes a good cat food, I stock up on everything because prices are going up and supplies are going down. |

Good to know other areas are doing well! If you catch the flooding and Typhoon news out of china it is clear they are losing most of all their produce this year and millions of livestock have been drowned. It is said to be the most rain in 1000 years. The damage will take years to fix, croplands are a constructed and designed complex. China might be looking elseware for long term remedies. Check out the utub vids on Flooding all over the areas. It is not mentioned on the American propaganda run MSM. It might upset the sheeple. Killer floods in places like Germany, Belgium, Iran, Turkey, Spain, London, all over china and everywhere in between. Five Typhoons hit China this year SO FAR! We cannot forget the huge farms in South Africa were taken over by the only people that matter and driven into the ground by ignorance and neglect. What they could not eat, they burned and destroyed. These special lives will be demanding the world bring them food now and keep them fed and watered. So any good crops anywhere will be at a premium. |
