I had my phone set to get severe alerts. I got my first one and it was in Spanish! My default phone language is set to English. I turned on the TV and not a single station was talking about the storm. Just sub titles with a warning. It was bad outside so I turned on Nexrad on my pc. So much for the phone alert system. Guess Spanish is the new default language here in Minnesota. Does me no good.

"We have breaking news live as we are tracking severe weather breaking out across Eastern Minnesota as well as all of Wisconsin Northern Illinois into Western Michigan and Northern Indiana. We are now talking about a very strong derecho that could bring hurricane-force wind gusts that is over 75 to near 85 miles an hour. Also, embedded supercells within the line are capable of producing very large hail and tornadoes. We will be here live for 6 to 8 hours keeping you all updated."

got out of middleton back to 15 miles away from wisconsin rapids. were out of the woods . no severe weather struck here thankfully . left their around 8 30 pm. 2 weeks ago or so got hail damage and filed 2 insurance claims. normally my area is fairly safe . i havent filed insurance claims because of severe weather as long as i can remember but i did a few weeks ago.

I survived. Definitely a few tornadoes came through in the area though. Winds were absolutely unreal for about 10-20 minutes in my area. Heavy, booming thunder. I'm one of the lucky ones that kept power.

The derecho struck the death blow to my last legs puter. A new leak happened in the roof and I woke up to a dead puter in a puddle. Kid letting me use the tablet. So glad everyone seems to be ok!

The only thing I got here was tree damage. One bigger branch came down, and a few more are not looking too good and need to be cut off.I am waiting for the tree service to call me back, but they are swamped today. We had a short-lived Derecho. We got lucky !
