USPS carrier is telling me I need to submit a package pickup request FOR EVEN A FIRST CLASS PACKAGE!

I told him I fill out package pickup requests all the time, but will not do it for a first class package.

He said he will take it this time, not anymore.

I raised my voice as he was walking away, said no, I wont do that for 1st class. (was up on my porch, behind my door, but open) and my dog started barking cause I was raising my voice////


Anyone ever heard of such nonsense?

Now, in retaliation, he has filed on my address, no mail pick up.

Saying I used foul words to him and he is afraid of my dog!!

I did not, he is lying, and dog is not vicious at all. Never any problems,bites, etc.

Went to talk to post master, she said she wasnt going to go against her carrier!

I called consumer affairs office, supposed to get back in 72 hrs as p/o told me as well, i have 2 choices, get a p/o box or put a mail box at street.

Never had a problem with other carriers, this is just so wrong!

Over his demand on first class pickup, want to see in writing where that is a requirement......so no need for that, and want mail service restored,grrrr.

You asked the carrier to pick up a first class parcel = no go

You asked the postmaster to intervene = no go

Now bump it up to the next level.
Talk to the Manager of Post Office Operations (MPOO) for this particular post office. He/she is the boss over the postmaster of your post office. Do not yell, scream, or act like a disgruntled postal worker. Simply figure out how to get a face to face meeting with the MPOO. State your case in a well rehearsed fashion will all of the available facts. Don't go in there with your heart on your sleeve, but with what really happened, when it happened and what you think can resolve the situation. In other words act like a lawyer when you are talking with the MPOO. Do not waste their time because they have zillions of complaints to handle on a daily basis. By being a face in front of them you will have a leg up over just a email or mean spirited text from an angry customer.

If you get no love from the MPOO find out where the District Managers office is and then take your facts to that person. State your case like you did to the MPOO. At least meeting with these people will make them call the postmaster and ask him about the case. It is not nice to be a postmaster and get a call from the MPOO or District manager about a situation which you've experienced.

About the only way you will get the postmaster to change his attitude is through someone with more authority than him.

This is the only advise which will get you any kind of positive response from the post office. Try any other avenues of response and you will get nowhere. Face to face is a great way to become a real person to the bosses. It has some legwork on your part but it is worth the effort if you want to get a good result. If you do not go with these suggestions then you will have to be satisfied with the results you are already experiencing.

The package pickup request will probably be handled by a carrier assistant in a separate truck which is for the express purpose of pickup and delivery of parcels.

The pickup requests alert that carrier that you have a package to pick up.

If your letter carrier is not your long-term carrier but some rando...you need to know they are probably struggling VERY HARD to get the job done, and when they get back to the PO, they are going to be handed another route and are probably working a 12-hour day, sometimes more.

The whole Postal system is taxed to the max and breaking due to parcels. It wasn't meant to be a parcel delivery operation, not to this degree anyway.

Covid has wiped out our workforce, not because people are sick, but because your government is paying people not to work and it's being taken advantage of.

Shitty carriers stay employed due to Union interference.

If our packages don't fit in the neighborhood boxes, they leave a little slip in our box and we just go to the post office and give them our address and they give us our packages. Half the time I don't even have the little slip with me - they just give me my packages. LOL!

Put the packages into a public USPS mailbox for shipping.

Is it that is too big take it right to the post office.

Seriously, I do carrier pick up requests everyday since I sell online.

Just go online to USPS and send in a request before 2 am central and they will get a printout to go to your house That was it's documented for you and everything.

Easy.

And all you had to do was a form that takes like 30 seconds to fill out. And now look.

I sell on ebay, do alot of pick up requests for my packages, this man is a substitute here for about the last yr, and had also told me when he was explaining why he needed (yea right, for a 13 OZ package) me to do this"is because if u dont, I have extra work that takes me into overtime that I do not get paid for."
So he is a liar again, and I believe he is fabricating these things against me because he is lazy too. (as another said, bothering w/packages) My house and a few others sit back off the street about 4 car lengths, and this is his way of getting less work for himself. We were speaking over a 13 oz item, are there specs online for these package pick up requirements?

What is wrong with a mail box at the street? Op don't be a karen, suspend your feelings and belief for a moment, and try to understand the mail carrier's situation.

You can't put big packages in a small mailbox. If you bought the postage online they have to pick it up. We treat the postman good so everyone wins.
