Vaccinated Australians will get special rules to avoid some lockdown restrictions once 70 per cent of the eligible adult population have had two vaccine doses, and international border rules will be loosened to allow more people to come home.

Once the national vaccination total hits 80 per cent, broad lockdowns will not be used in major cities, caps on returning Australians will be abolished and all restrictions on vaccinated travellers leaving the country will be removed.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said national cabinet had agreed to the plans on Friday afternoon after considering scientific modelling from the Doherty Institute and economic advice from Treasury.

“So if you get vaccinated, there will be special rules that apply to you. Why? Because if you’re vaccinated, you present less of a public health risk. You are less likely to get the virus. You are less likely to transmit it,” Mr Morrison told reporters on Friday night.

Mr Morrison said lockdowns would continue to be used to deal with COVID-19, but the national plan would give Australians a clear path out of the restrictions. Under the plan, states will have to individually hit the target vaccination levels as well as the nation. The special rules for vaccinated Australians will be considered by a working group made up of the Northern Territory, Victoria and Tasmania.

The Prime Minister said the lesson from dealing with the Delta variant was that “early and stringent lockdowns” were necessary to deal with outbreaks, and that would be kept in mind during the suppression phase.

To me for this much desperation for people to get vaccinated seems odd to say the least, now I would think our natural instincts to survive would drive us more than half baked politicians dangling trinkets for us to survive this very strange covid virus.

I mean we would know when our lives are under threat rather than us being told our lives are under threat and if we do not comply they will take our lives as we knew it away ... yeah that makes sense or are we seeing the rationale of Scott Morrison's mind?

The man is a liar. Remember two weeks to flatten the curve turned into over a year of medical tyranny by these assholes. A 100% of people could be vaccinated and wouldn't make a lick of difference to these liars. They would renege on their promises like just the two weeks to flatten the curve bullshit. You will still be lock down, still forced to wear a mask, still daily tested and still forced to quarantine like typhoid Mary or a convicted criminal for the rest of you life and any future generations. You are never getting back your freedoms nor are things going back to normal if you comply with their tyrannical demands. You will have to fight for your human rights and freedoms because once government takes them away they are never giving them back without a fight. They give you a little back of your freedom to encourage you to do as you are told then as soon as you do it the handcuffs come right back on. They are holding you prisoner or hostage.
