Here is a scholarly article suggesting graphene oxide is quickly expelled from the body [ link to www.materialstoday.com (secure)] this suggests the graphene could attract lead in the body and then quickly be expelled from the body with the lead attached to it But what if the body breaks down graphox to a digestible form? Well there is a natural human enzyme that does exatly that. At least almost. It breaks graphene down (not graphene oxide) so the body can digest and easily expell it [ link to phys.org (secure)] In this study we see the body treats graphene oxide like a pathogen and sets 'traps' to catch the GO just like it would with some organic compounds. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79552793 it's ambiguous. studies for the expelling of GO did not include GO with lead ionically attracted to it. They only did studies for pure GO. it is unclear if the GO takes lead from stored areas in the body then redistributes it as the GO is digested or if it is expelled with the GO. If lead is on it and the immune system attacks the GO with the 'traps' mentioned above, would the lead weaken or destroy the immune cells attacking the GO? |
