Don’t feel sorry at all!

Most of these affected tenants played the system. Sat on their ass, collected free money from the government, and lived rent free.

There are plenty of jobs out there, so they can’t claim they couldn’t find a job.

Finally, most of the affected don’t have a credit rating to care about, so they will simply just move up the road and rent elsewhere.

Who I feel sorry for in the landlords. The government allowed them to be taken advantage of. They were stuck with no income, but still had bills/taxes/mortgage to pay! On top of that, there was no check from the government for them, except maybe the ones who rented section 8, which only pays part of the rent.
