Ammunition too, but I’m not sure on this.

Items I’m not sure on, like whiskey and ammo, I don’t want to give my trading people liquid courage nor ammo that could be used against me.

I’m thinking cigarettes but so few people smoke anymore.

Watch living-in-alaska shows...they barter EVERYTHING! The trick is to know the VALUE of things.

In a societal breakdown only the "most important" things will be bartered for AT FIRST (alcohol, tobacco, bullets, medicine, sugar, salt)...but eventually we will barter more & more.

Whatever you hoard now, you will eventually run out of.

You need items you can make yourself from your own materials.

e.g. Home distilled whiskey, beer, wine, etc.

Wooden utensils you make from your own trees.

Lumber you mill yourself

Excess food you grow yourself.

Paracord
Fishing supplies
Sewing / clothes patching gear
Hard candy

Bottles of VODKA.......And one pound bags of cigarette tobacco. Trust me...if things get that bad people will start drinking and smoking.

I grabbed a box of 100 match books at the grocery store just so I wouldn't have to part with a bic lighter. That way I can still help others without harming myself.

But if they have anything to trade for it...that's a good start.

I’m leery of trading liquor though. I don’t want to get the wrong people drunk and talk themselves into coming to see what else I may know of... Then again there’s that possibility anyway.

Lets look at VALUE for a moment.

A book of matches is dirt cheap (pennies) right now.

In a SHTF situation I am offering you fire on demand 20 times over.

Oh and you know what, learning how to sharpen all those, a person could make themselves mighty useful. I love it.

In the Argentina collapse...there was a guy who had a gallon of lighter fluid & he would fill peoples zippo lighters.

They would give him a can of tuna or a can of spam just for filling their one lighter.

He also said you can hunt for meat or fish or water...but you can't hunt for soap or detergent or shampoo or bleach...THOSE WERE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS.

Vodka is good because if things get that bad and there is no hope just go out wiped out. LOL

Cross batteries and flashlights off your list man.

Dynamo flashlights. There is not going to be any power grid in a collapse.

Batteries will run out and flashlights will be junk.

There are some good fairly cheap dynamo flashlights out there and they will be priceless post collapse. Get some for yourself and a bunch of extras to trade with.

People in the Old West lived on beans and coffee. Get the freeze dried coffee....easy to make.
