Now I am overweight and it is unattractive. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79990265 The fact that 1 to 2 lbs of weight loss per week is achieveable is depressing and overwhelming. So I need to lose 60 lbs, and it would take a week of dedication and torture to lose 1 maybe 2? I dont know if I could keep it up for a week, let alone a year! I am crying, dont know what to do. Please advise, anyone who has been here. You have to get hold of your anxiety while getting healthy. Otherwise you’ll end up in a viscous cycle. I’ve been managing my anxiety with this.... Depression is your brain thinking about, worrying about the past. Anxiety is your brain living in the future. Bring yourself to the present. Live in today not tomorrow or 60 pounds down from now. It’s slow but works, at first your constantly refocusing on today. Go for a walk, take note of the birds and nice weather....Teach yourself to live present. Best wishes. |

Trying to explain to someone the other day that I am both in the future and past, but it takes real concentration to slow down and experience the now. The struggle is real, watching the ants helps me, lol |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80683520 United States 07/31/2021 11:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There's a LOT of great advice on here.. I liked the "Take long walks and use magnesium citrate and L-Theanine for your anxiety. Clean up your diet pwith organic whole foods and cook your meals." And the 'No Carbs" advice. I did the above and added Saint Johns Wart/Apple Cider Vinegar Pills/Black Seed Oil Pills/Ashwaganda and Vitamin C I lost an avg of 2 to 3 lbs a week WITHOUT even trying! Recap: NO CARBS take apple cider vinegar pill along with black seed oil pill after every meal. Before bed take magnesium citrate and L-Theanine along with ashwaganda (sleep like a baby!) In the A.M. take Vitamin C and Saint Johns Wart - anxiety gone! Plus weight loss! |

Please advise, anyone who has been here. Exercise Start slow like with walking and build up from that. Yoga is great and so is swimming. All low-impact exercises. Diet Sugar is an excuse. You can get it naturally from fruits and berries. Eat more of that if you crave sugar. Don't try and cut out EVERYTHING at once. Slowly stop eating as much as you used to. I was Type 1 Obese I now wear size 34 pants from a size 42. It takes time and be patient. This has taken me a year and a half so far... I know this can be difficult to do but that is actually a great outlook you have. Think of it this way... you are dedicated to seeing an improvement. Think of it as your body not being able to keep up with your newfound energy and outlook on life! Just don't exercise too hard and hurt your knees as I did. Nothing worse than being unable to do anything when all you want to do is improve. But no you gotta rest because you exercised too hard, a silly mistake on my part... GO SLOW. All recommendations and advice. Take what you will. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79009336 United States 07/31/2021 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "I have not had a panic attack since I gave up carbs and sugar." Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79990265 Whut? I might need to really let this sink in. Eat more quality fat, not just protein. The fat helps with brain function. Then your cortex is in charge more, rather than the lower functioning parts of the brain that cause that state of generalized fear. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 12581161 United States 07/31/2021 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Drink tons of water. So many people drink their extra calories. No calories in water. You can lose more than a pound a week. Start working out for 20mins a day, then work up to a couple hours a day. Takes weeks to put on the pounds, its going to take weeks to get those pounds off. You don't need 3 meals a day. Maybe 2 tops. No fast food. No starches. Protein and veggies/fruit Quoting: EllenRipley Do you meal prep, or how do you stick to that? Shopping/planning is my down fall right now. not good at it. Banana mid morning, chicken for lunch (this is if I'm super hungry that day). Dinner, make a meat and some veggies. I don't meal prep, but I plan for the week. I cook for 2 growing kids and husband. I'm not a big breakfast time eater. But if I do eat a breakfast, I don't eat again until dinner. If I'm hungry in between, I'll have sunflower seeds or jerky for a snack. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79009336 United States 07/31/2021 11:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Before I jump into those videos, I just want to say one more thing. A quick glimpse of the threads tonight shows that alot of us are hurting and struggling out there right now. I reached out for a little push of support and I hope support and strength for all that are struggling right now. It is tough times indeed. Sending love to all. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79990265 I would advise not to cut out carbs suddenly or completely, as it can cause stomach upset. The point is to not snack on carbs and to eat healthier foods that help reduce hunger and cravings. I still eat bread and pasta. Just much smaller portions. I snack on fruit, nuts, olives, veggies and dip, cheese, cold cuts, just not crackers or cookies or chips or cake. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 75485936 United States 07/31/2021 11:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Walk or join the gym and get on the treadmill. One little advancement will turn into many. Best wishes. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78631422 I bought a home gym, and walk a mile a weekend. Hoping to add more. No change yet in weight or mental feelings. I almost wonder if I need to walk a mile a day, crying it out as I go. Replace whatever candy or junk you eat with omega 3 nut mixes/healthier versions of trailmix, jerky, eggs. Stop eating so much wheat. Make salads or use lettuce for buns, cut down or out pasta. 1 mile a week isnt going to do anything. Go find a hiking trail, alternate between jogging and walking when you get winded. Its distracting if there are things to look at, listen to music or podcasts. Unless you are morbidly obese you should be able to walk at least 3 miles. Do it 3x + a week. After the first week you will be able to go further and jog a little more. I was way out of shape recently after dealing with psycho ex and being on a bender half the time i was with her, diet of mostly beer and processed food. Lost around 40 lbs in a 6 weeks switching to double cheese burgers on lettuce, chicken bacon , brats, good yogurt, eggs, nuts. Etc. Goal was lose enough weight to actually exercise and build cardio. You can go way further than 1 mile, start with 3 work to 10 after a couple weeks. Will be sore. If by home gym you mean weights, thats not going to make you shed weight Gg |
