I had a 1977 Cutlass Supreme
It was golden.
I bought it in 1997 for a thousand dollars as a "station car" off a Marine who had orders to go some where else.
I watched that car with desire for months, I had no idea I would actually get the chance to make it my own.
Its long gone, but for a little while . . .
These cars are thousands and thousands of dollars now.

Man. That car was a sweet, smooth dream, sliding the corners.
Had that smell - mmmm -
It had a freaking fantastic stereo in it.
I used to drive that thing all over that big base for the pure thrill of it - a diminutive white woman in that big ass car pretending I was one of Charlies Angels.
LOL

I used to play Shaft loud on that sweet sound system.
Man, inside that car - everything was perfect, like time standing still. Pure power and bliss.

Ever have something like this in your life?
Recall it, remember it, soak in it.
Go back to something that made this ride of life all worth it and hold it close. Fuck this current clown world.

Thank god we had the past . . .
I can remember this old song, making my grandpa misty eyed -
So the turn of time ~ remember the old ones? The Greatest Generation and even so, some earlier. My great gran born in the 1890s. I am so glad, in memories I can touch such a panorama of time.

The guys I hung around with, a group of brothers in the mix - they shared a Chevy Nova. I bet money on it, they miss that car now. Another model worth thousands of dollars.
The parking lot of my high school was full of cars like that.
All the stuff from an earlier life, we took for granted at the time.

Look - just looking at that gives me a rush.
Look at that HOOD!!! omg
Mine was golden colored, with gold interior and a little white cap on the exterior. It had some kind of after market stereo with great big speakers in the back. I got it all for a thousand bucks off a Marine that had to ship.

Had a 1977 Chevelle Malibu almost identical cars.

Around the same time 1997

Bought it from a friend leaving the State paid $500 for it.

The times that were had in it alone worth every cent.

Long gone as well but we've our memories.

I called it a gutless supreme.

Thank you.
Was a thrill wasn't it???
Can't touch them now without some big money.
One thing I can buy though, vintage film cameras that were too out of reach when I wanted them back in the day. That's my vintage pleasure. I'm set up to develop my own black and white film, just need to kick up my motivation a bit.

Ha! I drive a mini van these days, but I took the seats out of the back and threw a mattress in. The idea is to take my film cameras on a road trip. However, I am too leery to break in camping in it now, with all this Covid mess. But, I am hoping to head to the mountains this fall. The soft bottom part of the Appalachians, on a long drive up Hwy 441.

I bought one new in my teens (my dad co-signed). I liked those cars with long front-ends. Mine was silver-blue with the back half of the roof white vinyl.

As many years have passed, I've thought about buying one again.

My first customization was installing a horn that had 12 sounds. Back then, I thought that was cool.

It looked just like this one:

One of my friends in High School had some kind of car from the 60s that was about a mile long. We called it the Tank. He tore off part of the side of somebodies house, true story. Barely put a scratch on the car.

I saw this one!!!!
This one is so beautiful - it makes tears rise in my eyes.
LOOK AT THAT CAR, MY GOD!!!
I loved that shade of blue back in the day.
I think the horn sounds fun, bet you felt like the shit blowing that thing! If I had the funds, I would buy one. But it requires the ability to garage it and all - So I'll stick with collecting film cameras for now. I can keep those under my bed.

Wow just picked up an old Minolta SRT 101 with plenty of filters and lenses. Some older Polaroid land cameras just for kicks.
Some old reel projectors and films..

Making your own film sounds brilliant good luck!

That is one of my favorite movies.
Seriously. That is an excellent movie.
The Music.
Imagine a life, so simple, you could make a living working in a Car Wash in weather perfect Southern California before it was ruined.

I lived in North Carolina as a kid when this movie was out. The African Americans had Fros like that. Crazy mile high.
Race relations a lot better back in the day too -

Compare the beautiful music they had, to the absolute trash of today. Yes, I am old.

I miss the 1970s, it was the simple years for me.
I came of age in the 1980s, but my mom died when I started High School so that made me a pretty serious kid. It took me to the 1990s before I got my bearings back. Even so I think the music and movies from the decade of the 70s ~ is best.
