Just found out Daughter and Son in law did not pay rent for 1 year!!!!!

I’m sadly going through this with my adult grown kids who chose to do everything under the sun with their money, other than pay rent. They called and wanted to move back with small children and pets. It 1000% broke my heart to say no. But I wasn’t the one who chose to do this. My bills are paid on my very small income. I honestly believe if I give in now, they will have learned absolutely nothing. Again it’s heartbreaking but they have literally had the income x3 of myself and I didn’t raise them like this. It’s time they are reminded of that

They are both young, early twenties. They just came over and asked if they could move in for a few months so they could save money. I asked why they did not pay their rent for a year? They both work. They could not give me a straight answer. They both looked ashamed and promised they would stay only a few months. Mind you neither one of them lost their job or became unemployed due to covid. I am so pissed off at them.

Landlord came to them on Friday and handed them a 30 day notice. They live in a 100 unit apartment complex. Landlord had 67.....30 day notices to hand out.

My husband caved and is letting them stay.

What would you have done in this situation? Let them be homeless? I just can’t do that to my daughter.

Maybe, The landlord realized it was time to get the bad renters our before he lost everything that he had worked for.

I'll bet this situation is happening in many households across the country right now. I don't think I could have said no to the grandkids. They are the ones that will suffer because of their parents actions. Families used to care for each other and chip in for the good of all. Now,we all retreat to our own corners and watch others fall. You will need their help one day. We all get old and frail. Then the tough love will be reversed.

Wow I didn’t realize this would go the way it did? Once again like I posted a few pages back they are selling one of their vehicles and the rest of the money owed to the landlord will be loaned to them by us. They will be making bi-weekly payments to pay us back. They possibly will be able to stay in the Apartment if money owed to the landlord is paid by the 15th. It will be paid. Hopefully they will not be moving in with us if all works out.

I also have 4 other grown children whom are well adjusted financially independent homeowners. She is our youngest and has always been the most difficult one. She married a younger man who is not very bright. I’m not blaming him because she’s just as guilty as he is. They don’t have children( thank God)and they do not use drugs. My husband sat down with them all day hammering out a financial plan for them to work on. Hopefully they have learned their lesson.

I’m interested to hear why. I want them to admit why. Then if it was because they bought other things, I’d start taking them away.
