I've read more than a few comments and it seems most of you want to throw these people under the bus but before we do that lets take a closer look.
In 2016 did you vote for Trump?.... since the day Trump announced he was running for President in 2014 Trump has gone from city to city doing cult rallies and agreeing to pay millions of dollars to these host cties for space to hold the cult rally and police OT for protection but he has not paid a dime to any of these cities.
Also Trump when appointee President back in Nov. of 2015 started a Trade war with China which Led to the collapse of the Farm communities which were doing well at the time and the Trump policy kicked in it killed them. Then Trump gives billions and billions of tax payer dollars to the farmers as payback.
My point is Trump is the example to the people he leads so when Trump says don't pay rent cause the landlord can't boot you for a year or so and we'll make it law so they cant why would they Pay rent or the millions that did the same thing? These people are doing what Trump told or said they could do and he made it law. Add to that Trump doesn't pay his own bills because he's a freeloading con man.
So to the OP of this thread.... Its your family your kid so even though you don't want to help them out sometimes you just gotta do it or at least turn over ever rock that's a option to help them before bailing them out yourself.

Now that they have an eviction and probably a judgement. Their rental history is jacked for about 10 years.

First thing to rule out is they spent the money on drugs.

Wait till they get sued for back rent and need to stay longer.

When my kid got out on his own , he shacked up with this chick , knocked her up, and ended up getting laid off from his oil field job. Of course they showed up at my house, they couldn't pay the rent on their house and the baby was pretty expensive to maintain, as I found out..
I had to make it clear it was my house and if they cramped my style they had to hit the road. I even told the baby that.

Me too and I did that once with my son when he was young. I locked him out of the house completely and changed the locks.

My brother works in court system (IT) and they've been gearing up for this tidal wave for the last 4-5 months.

I'd loan em 10 grand no interest, set up legal terms (5 years). They use 80% of savings. They pay off the rent, they hopefully can stay, YOU have saved their credit. YOU can live alone in peace.

They struggle and get used to Kraft dinner as their "cushion" security money isn't there and they know parents won't help again. They divorce he still owe half. Perhaps a huge deposit to you when they get the tax return each year

They didn’t lose their jobs during the pandemic?? Did they forgot they have to pay rent or mortgage to live anywhere? Or their rental agreement?Maybe they got all the flu shots and the vaxx to keep their jobs. Maybe they are not the same people they used to be. Are they low IQ? Where did all their money go? Do they spend all their money on junk, clothes and fast food for example? Are they addicted to pharmaceutical or street drugs? Lots of questions to think about here. These people are going to be moving in with you and if they decide they don’t ever want to move out, that’ll be your problem.

I think you should show them tough love. You can’t say no to daughter because you can’t bear to be seen as the bad guy, so this is actually more about you and your avoidance of feelings of discomfort than it is about your daughter. Your job is to teach them to be functioning, self-sufficient adults. How will they learn to fly on their own if mama bird enables them to be willfully stupid and dishonest without any repercussions? They are literally stealing a large sum of money from someone else. What does this teach them?
