Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79759660 Does NorCal qualify as the desert? But they have trees and grass... Are you confusing it with the Hoover dam? That part of Northern California is so dry that if it wasn't for irrigation they wouldn't be able to grow crops. Some seasonal rain many mean that it is not a cactus type of desert particularly at the higher elevations, but it clearly is an extremely water poor area that is virtually useless as farm land if one has to just rely upon natural rainfall. YEP ... that part of California is a near desert environment. Take away the water storage areas built by man and it could NOT support the populations that they have living there. (not even talking about the shipping of some of their water south to other parts of California) |
