For the past 18 months I've been sharing a home with my sister and her two daughters, who are now 16 - and they're twins. I have a son who is 17.

After moving in, I became aware of some issues with raising teens...

She thinks it is fine to let all the teens drink and smoke pot in the house. I say it's not OK and I don't want it going on in my home. She even "parties" with them...

Things came to a head right before Christmas.

Long story short - she's moving out this weekend.


Right now - the house is a mess. There are at least 6 teens here, not including my son. They are all partying. My sister is nowhere to be found.


I'm just trying to hold on and let her leave without there being a huge scene...

Sure, she's probably considered the coolest mom ever, but she is putting you both in the position of being prosecuted for contributing to the delinquency of minors, or worse charges. If one of those teens gets injured as a result of partying at your house, you can expect to get sued for everything you'll ever have. Kick them to the curb, and don't worry about being a bitch about it.

We have been battling over this for a year now.
My sister has a lot of health problems so I didn't want to make her move out. I'm very worried about how she's going to manage now. But she's the one who decided to leave.

We have at least 4 kids who practically live here - all the time here, smoking pot and carrying on... Then on the weekends that number would double. Because here - there are no limits on what they could do.

I think it was getting out of control.

I'm glad she's leaving in many ways but I hate that this has happened.

They are my sister's kids... I know it sounds crazy, but it's not as easy as you make it sound.

Are those teens paying rent? If not, then their opinion doesn't matter. Your house, your rules.

You are very loving to your sister. You want her to be happy and you definitely want the twins to have a good life. You cannot do it at the expense of yourself and your son. It's hard to do, but sometimes, you have to look out for what's best for you and your child. It's especially difficult when you have to go up against a family member. Your sister needs help in a very bad way. What you have done may be the only way she will start to realize what she has become. Do not feel guilty for what you have done to her (which is nothing but good) because she has not given your well-being or your son's well-being a second thought.

I know exactly what you're talking about...I once spoke up against my sister when our kids were younger. She has twins...boy/girl. She lets them do EVERYTHING.

I spoke up and it turned UGLY really fast. Next thing you know my kids, husband and I were packing up and leaving my parents home on Christmas day...

People like our sisters...THEY SNAP REALLY EASILY.
And it's never good.

I kept hoping my sister would do the right thing. I knew if I stepped in and kicked HER kids out of OUR home - I would never have a relationship with her again. And she's sick.

Believe me - this has been very difficult. My own kids do not drink or smoke. Even with this going on in the house - my son has no part in it. He and I just have tried to keep to ourselves and stay out of it. But finally I had enough and in early Dec., had ONE more talk and told her it had to stop. She immediately said she would leave. And I let her go - didn't try to talk her out of it. And since then, have just been trying to let it all go and let her leave with some possibility that we can speak to each other again some day.

Right now we aren't even speaking.

What the hell is YOUR problem!?! Have you not ever had a problem with someone you loved tremendously? How would you have handled it? Be honest with yourself even if you won't be with us. You must know it would be difficult. Try to really visualize yourself in the situation.

Besides, try to be a little encouraging.

Just go buy some rock candy and make a tin foil pipe and ask her if its allright if you smoke a little crack, and maybe could she be a sweetie and show you how.

what kind of sick is your sister?
if that isn't too personal.

Is it substance abuse sick? or medical.

2X's number one concern is her son, and she should do whatever necessary to make sure her son's best interest is protected. Letting her mooching sister and her underage pothead turdlettes drink and smoke weed in her house puts her at risk for losing her house and going to jail. Her sister can do whatever she wants in her own home, but when one is staying at the home of someone else, one should at the very least respect their wishes that no LAWS be broken under their roof, FFS.
