Distance of Taiwan from US mainland: 6400 miles

Round trip time for a helicopter to fly from China to Taiwan, drop off a load of troops and return for it's next load: 2 hours (max)

Time for the US to get an UNARMED fixed wing plane to Taiwan from the US: 15 hours (including a refueling stop)
- but after which the pilots would be tired and not ready to go into battle until a few hours of sleep

Time for the US to get SOME troops from Okinawa to Taiwan (450 miles): Probably 12 to 24 hours for a PARTIAL deployment, ASSUMING they can find an airfield to land at ... which is a HUGE assumption since China will be trying to exert air superiority over the island
(due to need for transport planes to go to Okinawa to pick up troops - only limited number of transport planes kept at Okinawa)
(30,000 US troops are stationed in Okinawa)
