To the south backwoods or Midwest backwoods area, stay outta Michigan and Ohio and Illinois and Indiana is close behind them

Here’s the problem with that. Every time liberals leave their liberal hellholes because they can’t stand the stench no more, they come find freedom in places like Montana or Texas. But they also bring the same stinking ideas and the same stinking attitudes that stunk their place up in the first place. Then our places start smelling. The liberal states have emptied out too much over the last couple decades and have infected large parts of the rest of the country. Just stay where you are.

If you can travel, just take a few day driving trip, stop a few places if you see to many masks keep driving.

Also coming from NY area housing will be much cheaper in the south.

Stay around your local area (rural works best) but get off any islands or peninsula.

One way in/out is a tarp and an island is only good if you have a boat or air travel.

Either way, don't rely on someone else. Take responsibility.

My vote is Texas or Arizona. SD is ok, but I don't trust Noem, you'd only be able to flee to Canada, and winter is brutal.

I say it's 50/50 whether Al Qaeda ends up invading from Mexico or we end up trying to flee the US. In any case, Texas would defend their border.

Texas is turning purple due to the federal government's refusal to secure the border, liberals fleeing the states they ruined then voting for the same policies, and of course rampant election fraud. Texas is as much a victim of federal corruption as anyone. They will be the first to stand up in self defense.

I'm in deep south Mississippi. Our governor is anti mandate. We actually lost population last year due to covid. Stifling heat and humidity, large black population but small town people are different than city people. I haven't seen any thugs in my area. Lot of land for sale but it's getting more expensive.

I have lived in small towns, and am more comfortable there than where I am now

Same boat -wanting to go back to the South, but not really sure where anymore. Lots of friends in TX, lived outside Austin (don’t go there). Atlanta is a mess, I feel like FL will be a trap with many flooding in and more pressure put on the state to comply. I think, if you can, rent a place for 2 months (Airbnb- negotiate long term deal?) and get a better idea- or even go just for a couple weeks. Neighbors left northern CO here for SD and love it, but it’s real winter there and we’ll like many places, they don’t want people pushing in thinking they’ll change things (I don’t blame them). SC -lots of New Yorkers in the Charleston area- it’s pretty full. TN - what about what was passed last Friday? Some had questions about phone psych evaluations and use of Guard. Not sure what’s what with all that. North of Dallas has a lot of tornadoes and storms seasonally- maybe not with changing weather patterns though.
Hope you find your spot. Don’t base your choice on fear- liking the people in the area is key and feeling comfortable. Maybe even look at lots and tiny homes for more of a less permanent type scenario? You could relocate them if needed to another state- buy, lease a lot? Just thinking of flexible scenarios.
