Here's the FACTS:

In 2018, the Supreme Court of Finland ruled that a man who had intercourse with a 10 year old child was guilty of "aggravated sexual assault" and not "aggravated rape", BECAUSE the legal definition of rape was at the time that there must be violence, or threats of violence, and this had not been the case.

Following this verdict, a debate followed, since the Finnish people generally considers sex with a child to be rape whether violence is involved or not.

And so, in 2019, the law was changed. A new crime, "aggravated sexual abuse of a child" was added to the books, carrying the same legal repercussion as rape.
