Taken 2002, Spielberg
Anyone ever watch this 10 episode series? I just finished watching episode 7 and Allie explained that she is afraid that if she thinks at all about the things she can do, she will not be able to do them. Which 100% relates to my simple experiences such as peter pan flying in my dreams or when I am awake, knowing or predicting when something is going to happen. In my dreams, while flying, every time I give consideration to what I am doing, I begin to fall out of the sky. If you know anything about 'special powers', it is said to be available to those who are able to quiet the mind.

Such a really good series about abduction, I can not help but wonder what other truths are placed in this series. I mean, its Spielberg and we all know he is in the club and how much they like to place truths in movies and such. The series is like a history of Roswell moving forward and the hybrid theory. I am curious if anyone else has watched the series and what are your thoughts.

I am also curious about what you think about the quiet mind aspect of 'special powers'. Have you ever experienced anything like that? I know I have experienced way many times that I think something is going to happen, and it does. I have also experienced way too many times that if I think something is going to happen and then I think about it any more than that, it does not. Anyone else?

For those of you who have mastered techniques to quiet the mind, any tips you would like to share? Just wanted to start what I hope becomes and interesting thread. Off to watch episode eight...

I haven't watched this - but they tell us so many things in their Hollywood productions. Spielberg made my favorite movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Damn awesome series, follows the “UFO” timeline really well through the 20th century. And I liked how it followed multiple generations of people.

Childhoods End (on SyFy) is another good drama series about aliens to catch.

I downloaded both of the internet.

That was a good one!
We watched it back in the day when it was on Sci-fi.
Would be worth watching again, thanks for the suggestion.

That was a super good movie. I am really enjoying this series, each episode is about an 80m or so, expect to invest a bit of time if you get into it.

Happy Birthday btw!

I agree, both are quite good. I just stumbled upon Taken the other day, did not know it was out there.

I have also always been into mind over matter sort of stuff, think too much about it mostly. Maybe I am going about it all wrong, huh? Sure wish I could turn my mind off, which un-surprisingly enough is what one of my favorites books was about, Way of the Peaceful Warrior. Good stuff, always wished I had a teacher like Soc.

Sure thing, thanks for responding! Do not recall watching too much television when this was around, I had gone sober and replaced my drinking & bar time addiction with online gaming so I completely missed it. Not sure how I never came across it before now.

Still curious, anyone ever have any success with turning the mind off and if so, what were your results? I would imagine the most likely result would be something along the lines of oob experiences or even some legit precognition. Strangely enough, I have always felt like I should be able to fly irl based off of my dreams, it seems obvious to be based in belief and intent. Except, how??? I know all of this sounds silly but I have experienced others aspects of mind over matter stemming from deep meditation.

Anyone else?

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is tangible and can move mountains.

Mark 11:23

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Belief, intent. It all starts with a vision.

I know this to be true. It seems to not only hinge upon the belief, intent and visualizations but also somehow to not think about these things while you are doing. As soon as the background noise of the mind comes into play, everything else is lost. That is why I am so interested in techniques to quiet the mind. I meditate a good bit, recently much less than previously. I would think this is the place to start, anyone have good techniques to shut down the mind or any other suggestions?

Re: Taken 2002, Spielberg
I haven’t seen the show but I was thinking along these lines recently. A lot of people repeat the old line of having to chop wood and carry water for ages before you can achieve something. It seems to be a spiritual concept that nothing can be achieved without putting in the hard yards. Maybe it’s the laziness in me, but I don’t really buy that. I already do all sorts of amazing things without even thinking about it. We don’t consciously breathe or keep our bodies running. Maybe the real magic is in our sub conscious levels, you just have to find the switch to turn it on.

When the little girl Allie (D Fanning) talked about how she could do the things she does, it just made me think - yes, I have experienced this! I will say quieting the mind for me has not been easy, it has always raced for me non stop. Most of my time trying to sleep is spent thinking, unfortunately.

The show is rather good, especially if you are into alien theories and its reported history or even if you have had your own experiences. If you are looking to kill some time, there would be worse ways to do so. I still have 2 more episodes left.

Our subconscious mind saves us the trouble, of having to take care of our vitals. Otherwise we wouldn't get anything done.

Sure, but what else might be going on? In my search for truth, I have found that many who would seem to have precognitive abilities, like Cayce, claimed to utilize altered states of consciousness. It appears that state to ideally be in is the alpha-theta range, perhaps this is where we can access more of the sub-conscious?

It is an interesting conversation to me. I have had some health issues and I have directly impacted them through deep meditation. I would smoke a little herb, get into a steaming hot bath that would turn my skin red and meditate. I could get myself down to 1.6 bpm, I was pretty deep! In these meditations, I would direct white light energy towards my injury, one of which was an ankle injury, my foot folded up underneath my shin and clicked back into place when I had moved my leg at the time of injury. After having spent upwards of forty five minutes of sending white light with the intention to heal my ankle, at night only on the days that this was done my ankle was hit multiple times at night with bolts of energy that actually made my leg completely raise up off the bed. This happened multiple times in each night, accompanied by massive amounts of pain. This would only happen on the days I did the focused meditation.

By the 10th day I was putting weight on my ankle and by the 11th I was back at work, limping and in plenty of pain, waiting tables no less. Everyone said I was crazy, I needed a doctor. Doctors I have told this story too completely dismiss me. I have come to find, what do they know...

For reference I posted this thread about 5 years ago.

Re: Taken 2002, Spielberg
Such a good series, I really enjoyed it. Interesting how much I was able to relate to the whole story line. Been there, done that sort of thing, Though I have no waking recollection of the beings themselves, I have had more then my fair share of up close and personals with ufo's, especially saucers.

I cant help but wonder in the end if emotion is a hindrance or a boon in unlocking latent abilities. I would lean towards being a boon if controlled and hindrance if not.

So yeah good series, check it out.
