One answer lies in the structure of the Taliban itself. The MSM portrays them as a well-oiled ruthless group of murderers and while that may be true at the very top, the exact opposite is true among the sandals on the ground.

Ruthless? Yes. Well-oiled? Not so much.

Those sandal-soldiers are anything BUT organized and in most cases have very little direct "official" supervision or accountability and the latter is the key to their aggressive behavior. Those AK-47's are actually in the twitchy hands of Alpha males who've proven themselves to be efficient at controlling big herds of Goats, so now they control people. Take a good look at those guys you see on your TV screen. Do they LOOK like top-notch material? And how many times have our own military claimed the Afghani troops are "untrainable?"

Middle Eastern men are a PROUD bunch of zealots and when their ego is challenged those AK's get cocked. On top of that, there is very little operative chain-of-command where in many cases communications are little more than word-of-mouth and those sentries are left to make decisions entirely on their own. The guys only put in charge because they had the newest cellphone and a full bandolier but little else... including an understanding of the principle of cause/effect.


A good comparison would be a mall cop directing traffic on a busy highway or perhaps a Gomer Pyle holding nuclear launch keys. Where even a tiny mistake can become a major game-changer. This is illustrated in the reports that Americans are being beaten outside the Kabul airport with fan belts jerked off the nearest Ford with no explanation of who is actually wielding them. Just remember: Small, agendized groups like BLM are NOT unique to the U.S.! It's far easier for the MSM to claim they're all Taliban just as they wholesale label many conservatives here as white supremists or domestic terrorists.

Then you must factor in the different dialects of those ancient nomadic tribes which are still commonly spoken. Just because they were all born in the same country doesn't mean they all speak the same language... subtle linguistic differences can pack a whallop and English is foreign to ALL but a handful of them. They can't speak let alone read it and that's why they stare blankly at those U.S. passports people are desperately waving in their faces.

To those eyes/ears it's just another piece of paper that means nothing because nobody further up the food chain has bothered to explain it to them. And those screaming people become just another herd of bleating sheep to be corralled and maybe even sheared.

Meanwhile, the Taliban at the top of the heap are far too busy to bother with any of it as they take inventory of their vast new treasures we thoughtfully gave them; and they begin reshaping their country into the ideal one they want for themselves, instead of one imposed upon them by an invading army for the past 20 years.

And when I take all of that into consideration everything seems to make sense! At least in Kabul.
