It just feels more satisfying to think Jesus said, Today you will be with me in paradise, rather than ‘,Today you will fall asleep for thousands of years until the end of the age. ‘

It sure beats being alive and awake in hell.

1 day is as a thousand years in the spirit realm. Imagine having no sense of time passing.

Ever slept for a long time and woke up and felt like no time passed? Today, you're going to go to sleep in Abraham's Bosom rather than awaking in hell, because thou hast believed on me. That's sounds good.

St. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Quoting: Jesus Christ is God Almighty

John 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

This verse sounds like there will be mansions or homes awaiting his disciples immediately after they die, not thousands of years later.

I'm sure it does sound like that to you.

But in this creation, including the one in which heaven now exists, there is evil, and death.

The mansions are planets in the new creation, just as he gave this planet to Adam who would still be alive today with us had he not sinned.
