Gone From My Sight

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

 

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."

 

Gone where?

 

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.


And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

BarBQBoy, you are so much loved here - you and your son and Donna. When I read your news tonight, I was utterly shocked. I was so hopeful, almost positive, that she would be turning the corner any moment now.

You are so strong, so determined, so loving and careful toward your family, you have impressed all of us with your strength, kindness, thoughtfulness and love.

We each wish there is something special we could do for you. I was horrified to read what you said about GFM- anyone willing to follow those guidelines is living very dangerously and you are wise not to do so. I hope you or someone else finds a way so that you can be helped without giving up your anonymity and safety! Off subject slightly, but I am shocked that that group would have the nerve to demand such exposure, even a photo. They will lose their business.

Your loss is a family loss, and we are part of your family. So, so sorry, and now you are worrying about Dakota and his diet - I hope things can settle soon into their new normal and you can get him back on the right food at the right time, and whatever else he needs. First, though, dear friend, we need for you to take care of you. Rest, food, hydration. You have been through so much, and more to come just ahead. To get through it all and begin your physical recovery you have to take care of your own basics - water, food, sleep. These are critical, and helping you will help Dakota as well. You will be good for each other.

The pain in your hearts and minds will be a long time easing, and meanwhile as you sort through all that, your body requires all it needs for recovery, first thing.

God bless and keep you two, and all your family and friends. We are with you and loving you and sorrowing with you. Take care of you so you stay healthy, please.

I could see that too, and in fact was writing a comment here of hope and positivity when I hit a wrong key and it disappeared and BBQ's last post turned up in its place - an act of the Holy Spirit without doubt.

So hurtful to our dear friend and his son. You and I agree, the other outcome seemed within reach. Wish it had been.

We will do our best to make sure you get some time. First Dakota...now...I don't want to get into it. You know me though. Just repair yourself, and do the best for your son. I dunno what else to say, I can not imagine really. But take a lot of time. Take as much time as we can create for you. You have the various numbers if you need a voice. I, I can't compute. SOrry mate. You know. I love you and Dakota.

Hes doing about as well as can be expected, Hes at Dialysis right now. Its very difficult watching him go through this.
