I think it’s the other way around. War potential rises because the space weather activity affects the central nervous system putting people on fight or flight and sending people nuttier.
Could be bringing the army out of Afghan for potential lights out situation in the coming future caused by solar storm etc.
Easier for the masses to think emp on that scale was done by another country as that leads to fighting and death of the little people while the elite head for the safe places

If they told people globally this kind of space weather was gonna affect the earth and there was nothing they could do about it total anarchy would happen which would mean the elites plans could be thwarted by the little people. Much easier to let them all think one country is attacking another.

When it’s a relatively minor one, it’s doesn’t really matter which part of earth is the sun facing side

Good question. Only the Earth facing the Sun will be affected when the storm Arrives. The Biggest part of the Storm last less than an hour.

Fortunately/unfortunately the power companies have been quietly hardening the high voltage transmission system against EMP (natural or otherwise) for decades. A Carrington event level incident would trip everything off line very quickly before nearly irreplaceable hardware would be damaged. It would require technicians to manually reset the tens of thousands of "sinks" to restore power. It would mostly come back up in a few days or weeks.

Electronics that do not have a "pickup antenna" equivalent will be fine. It's all about the wiring (acting as a pickup antenna) connected to the electronics that determines susceptibility to EMP damage.

I know little to nothing about EMP. I always notice these people hardening their stuff against EMP like it's going to happen tomorrow.

I would be curious how susceptible something like a computer or phone is. I mostly want to protect stuff, but I don't see it as necessary to put my phone in a Faraday cage for that.
